Chapter 13 What to Wear?

~Time skip cause I can~

I made Josh go back to his room last night. We both decided it was way to soon to be sharing a bed. Plus Jackie needed a place to sleep, but I don't think Alec or her would protest sharing the air mattress.

I didn't wake up until nine which was early for me on days off. I looked over and Jackie wasn't in the bed next to me. Confused I looked down to the air mattress and sure enough there she was all snuggled up next to Alec. I rolled my eyes at the two of them laying on an air mattress.

I took the stack of post it notes I had sitting next to my bed, in case I had any late night song ideas, and wrote, "Wow I see who you're favorite is now. Tell Alec to stop stealing my friend," and stuck it to her forehead. She was a heavy sleeper there was no way she would wake up from that. I still darted out of the room quickly in case she did.

Once I was safely in the kitchen I smelled pancakes from the kitchen.

"Is that what I think it is?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen.

I saw Josh standing over the stove attempting to flip a pancake and failing miserably. Tyler was laughing his butt off from the kitchen table. 

"Yeah except-" Tyler said between gasps, "Josh can't cook."

"I can tell," I laughed. 

He turned around his cheeks bright red, "Uh ya this might be a good time to say the only food I can prepare is cereal."

"Obviously. Here let me help," I came up behind him and he moved out of the way, "Watch, ok? Like this."

I flipped the pancake and it landed perfectly in the pan.

I turned around and he said, "How- what- That was perfect!"

"Yeah I know I am," I did a little bow.

"Yes you are," he said rapping his arms around my waist.

"EW GROSS!!" Tyler yelled slapping a hand over his eyes.

He smirked at Tyler than planted a kiss on my cheek and I could feel my cheeks heating up. He brought me closer to him. 

"The pancakes!" I yelled, smelling smoke in the air. 

I ran from Josh's arms and to the stove where the pancakes were burning. I ran the pan over to the water. Luckily all it did was burn, no fire. 

"How about we go out for breakfast?" I suggested.

We didn't do much that day. Josh had decided to do dinner that night because it was the last day off before getting back on the road.

"Jackie! Get in here!" I yelled.

"Yup. I'm comin," she said back walking into my room.

She stopped abruptly in the doorway, "Woah. That's a lot of clothes everywhere."

"I can't think of anything to wear ughhh," I threw myself down on my bed after throwing the dress I was holding down.

"Uh, ok. Well first let's clean up some of this mess," she bent down and picked up a few pieces of clothing off the floor, "Where is he taking you?"

"I don't know. That's the problem. I don't know what to wear," I jumped up and grabbed her shoulders, "Help meee!" 

"Ok, ok relax. Luckily for you I am the master of planning outfits for unplanned events. So we can do dressy casual," she started sifting through the mess of clothes on the floor. 

"Ok so this," she help up a cotton candy pink dress, "with this," she finished holding up a black cardigan. 

"Oh my god that's great! You're great! I love you!" I shouted throwing my arms around her. 

"I thought you loved me?" Josh said from the doorway.

"Out! You have to wait until I'm ready!" I pointed out of the doorway.

"Oh really now?" he took a step into the room. 

"You best take your butt out of this room before I take it out for you," I stepped towards him.

"I'd like to see you try," he took another step into the room and crossed his arms.

I took another step and we were face to face, "Get out before I take drastic measures."

"You're lucky I like surprises," he said before turning and leaving the room. 

"Well then," Jackie laid the dress on my bed, "There ya go. I think you're capable of choosing your own shoes?"

"Yes, mom. For real thank you. I'd be lost without you," I hugged her.

"Anytime babe," she patted my back, "Now I believe you have a date to get dressed for." 

I nodded as she walked out of the room and I started to get changed and a little bit anxious.
