Athena's P.O.V.

I'm currently with Elena and Aunt Jenna in the kitchen who is currently telling us about our birth mother. "  Your dad kept everything from his medical practice—records, logs, old appointment books. [She pulls out a journal and opens it, showing a page to Elena.] I found an entry from the night you were born. Patient and a birth date. Isobel Peterson." Aunt Jenna says. "  Do you think that's her real name?." Elena and me ask at the same time. " Pregnant teenage runaway? Probably not. First name, maybe. But where'd she get Peterson? Classmate? Best friend? So I binged it." aunt Jenna starts. " searched for all the Petersons in this area born the same year as Isobel, found 3--2 men and a woman, Trudie, who lived in Grove Hill, Virginia." aunt Jenna adds. "That's not far from here." I say. "Well, watch this." she says but I sense she knew she made a mistake. "Sorry Athena." she says. "It's fine." I tell her and I hear her type on her laptop. "Isboel. She was a cheerleader." Elena says and she clearly has a smile on her face. "Trudie still lives there. This is her address." aunt Jenna says. "What about Isobel?" I ask. " I couldn't find anything about her.Listen. There's something else. Mr. Saltzman, Ric, his wife was from around here, and her name was also Isobel." she explains and I frown a little. "Wait. "Was," as in..." Elena trails off. "She died." Aunt Jenna says.

Later I'm  sitting on Elena's bed as she's putting her clothes away. "Alaric's wife might have been your mother?" Stefan asks her. "It can't be true, right? I mean, the coincidence alone is just crazy." Elena starts. "I have the address for her friend Trudie." She adds. "You wanna talk to her." Stefan says in realization. "don't know. I...I--I don't know. If it's true and they are the same person, that means that our birth mother is dead, and I don't know if we could handle that." She tells Stefan. "Elena, did Jenna tell you anything about Alaric's wife? How she died?" Stefan questions causing me to raise my eyebrows. "You knew that already?" I ask him. "The night at the school when he attacked me, he told me some things about her death." He explains. "Well." Elena says. "No, no.  It's not possible. The coincidence is—it's too much. Now, listen, if you do decide to go talk to Isobel's friend, I'll go with you. Okay?" Stefan says. "I just don't know what me and Athena are going to do yet." Elena sighs. "I should get going.  I gotta go deal with Damon." Stefan announces. "How's he doing?" We ask at the same time. "He's dealing in his own way." Stefan answers then leaves. When we get to Trudie's house Elena debates whether to knock on the door or not. I knock on the door instead at wait for her to open it. "Trudie? Tru-trudie Peterson?" She questions. "Uh, our names are  Elena and Athena  Gilbert. I wanted to talk to you about Isobel Flemming." Elena says. "Well, I haven't heard that name in years. How do you know her?" She asks us.
"We're her daughters." I answer. "You both are almost a spitting image." She says with a laugh. "I was just gonna make some tea. Would you like some?" She asks. "Sure."we say at the same time. "Uh, the kitchen's this way." She says nervously. Hmm she must know about vampires or otherwise she wouldn't be nervous to let us in. "
At first  we weren't gonna come. I didn't think we were, but I was driving, and I hit this stoplight, and it made me think about when I was learning how to drive and then my mom would always warn me about this blind turn on the left-hand side, and then I was thinking about our mom, and—I had your address. I'm sorry for barging in."Elena explains. "It's no problem. Um, just a surprise, though." Trudie says I know I can't see her but I narrow my eyes at her. "Why is your sister staring at me?" I hear Trudie whisper to Elena. "I'm blind and I was born that way." I answer her. "Sorry I was going to ask but I didn't want to sound rude." She says. "No worries." I tell her and I drown out the rest of their conversation.

Elena's P.O.V.

I notice Athena is no longer listening to our conversationa as I continue talking to Trudie about Isobel. Asking her questions about where she's been and when's the last time she talked to her.

Athena's P.O.V.

I eventually tune back in and Trudie is showing a picture of Isobel. "Ah. They came to the games for us.The football team hadn't won in years. We were the stars. Well, Izzie was. But I was a damn good backup."Trudie explains. "Heh. This is great. Thank you."Elena says with a smile in her voice. "You're welcome. You haven't touched your tea." Trudie states. I take a sniff of my tea vervain it smells like then I take a sip. "What is this?" Elena questions. "Oh, it's just some herbal mixture." Trudie responds nervously. "It's  vervain." I state. "You know."Elena says. "Know what?" Trudie questions stupidly. "You didn't invite us in, and you're serving vervain tea. You know."Elena says with realization. " I think that you should probably leave." Trudie says standing up. "Wait. What are you not telling me?"Elena asks. "Please leave. Now!" Trudie yells. Elena gets uo and walks towards the door but I stay seated for a bit. "I know you know. I knew you knew because I heard the nervousness in your voice." I tell her getting up and following Elena. I ask Elena to drop me off at home so I can have time to think about our birth mother and everything else. Well I lied about that part I just didn't want to goto the fundraiser bwcause I would feel left out since I can't  see.
