“You’ll be sleeping here until further notice” Midnightstar said to River. “Fox-dung you!” River hissed at the Shadowclan leader. Midnightstar chuckled and walked away. “Davenderpelt, watch over our prisoner!” Midnightstar commanded. Davenderpelt nodded and sat outside the rocky incline that was the prisoner den. “I’ll make you pay if you don't let me go!” River growled at him.

“All we want from you is the location of Wildspirit” Davenderpelt told her. “I told your leader, I. Don’t. Know” River hissed and leapt at her guard. She managed to pin him by his neck. “Let him go!” Pigeonpaw growled. River got off of Davenderpelt and attacked Pigeonpaw. “Enough!” Midnightstar yowled, as she knocked River off of her apprentice. River struggled against the weight keeping her pinned to the ground. Midnightstar dug her claws into River’s pelt. “Let me go!” River hissed.

Midnightstar got off of River and sat down. River slowly pulled herself into a sitting position. “I told you… I don’t know where Wildspirit went,” River muttered as she tried to catch her breath. “You will not leave till you,” Midnightstar started to say, but River dashed and ran out of the camp. “Get back here you little rat!” Midnightstar yowled at River as she ran. River didn't respond and kept running away.

‘Just… don't go to… Bloodfang’ River thought as she ran in a random direction that wouldn't lead her to Bloodfang’s camp. “Get back here!” A voice yowled after her. ‘Leave me alone, Pigeonpaw’ River thought as she continued her run. Before long she came to a stream. River jumped and landed hard on her side. When she looked down she saw that her left paw was twisted in a unusual way. “Did… I… lose him…?” River muttered as she tried to stand.

Another cliffhanger... why did I do this?
