“Well, it all began a long time ago, before anyone you know that lived was born,” Scarlet began, “When it was just the elementals and the emotions”

“They created a carving in a cave that was broken out and stolen” Scarlet sighed.

River looked at her in confusion.

“We elementals have since been looking for it,” Scarlet looked at Death, “as are some emotions”

Death stared at her silently. River glanced at Death.

“Somewhere along the line, humans found out and that's why they are killing all the cats around here. The carving is around here and I am looking for it” Scarlet explained.

“And where does the disturbing part come in?” River glared at Scarlet.

Death sighed and cut in, “If a human or a normal cat finds the carving, they will die in the most painful way you can imagine times ten”

River looked at Death with fear in her eyes, “W-why?”

Death nodded to Scarlet to explain. Scarlet hissed at her.

“Well, their nonexistent powers cause that. You need to have power or else your body won't survive” Scarlet looked at the den entrance.

     Snow walked in, “River?”

     “Uh… yes?” River mumbled.

Snow looked at Scarlet and Death, “What're you doing here?!”

Snow ran at Death and tried to attack her. Death sidestepped and Snow crashed to the ground.

“G-get out!” Snow growled as she slowly stood up. Death laughed.

“Snow, what is wrong with you?!” River whispered, cautious that someone would hear them and investigate.

“Get out, now” Snow ordered. Death laughed and walked closer to Snow.

“My, my, a vicious little one, aren't you?” Death teased.

Snow growled and backed up, “S-stay away from me!”

“You're the one who's attacking me, little one” Death pointed out.

Snow growled and leapt at Death again. This time, she got one blow in before being thrown back against a wall.

“Snow! Death! Please stop this” River hissed quietly. Snow slowly got back onto her paws.

Snow turned to River, “I’ll stop when she leaves!”

River sighed and looked at Death, her intention clear in her eyes. Death nodded faintly and walked back over to Snow.

“S-stay away!” She hissed. Death didn't stop until she was right in front of Snow.

Death touched her nose to Snow’s forehead, “Sleep, dear. I’ll be gone when you wake”

Snow collapsed onto the floor. River let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

“She'll wake up in an hour” Death walked back to her original position.

River glanced around, “Anything else I need to know?”

Scarlet shook her head. Death vanished in a second. Scarlet vanished as well. River sighed. She walked over to Snow and sat by her.

“Why did we get dragged into this mess?” River muttered as she cast her eyes to the floor.

‘Do not worry, little one. This is what is supposed to happen’ A voice echoed in River’s mind.

      ‘W-who are you?’ River asked.

‘I am Star. Did you forget about me?’ Star asked River.

‘No, I just didn't recognize your voice” River scrapped her claws across the floor.

‘I must warn you of Iceora and of Poison. If they are allowed to run freely in this world, they will destroy it. It is up to a prophesied cat the stop them. What the prophecy is, I don't know’ Star changed her voice into a serious one.

River looked around the cave, unsure of how to respond to that.

‘I must go, but the cat will be born into this clan, that much I know’ Star’s voice faded as she spoke.

River sighed and got up. She walked over to the entrance. River peaked out of the den slowly. No one was outside anymore. River looked around and noticed that nothing was moving.

“Finally, I can end your life” A cat’s voice echoed off the rocks. River glanced around, but saw no one.

She cautiously walked down the cliff. She glanced behind her every few seconds. When River got to the bottom, she noticed some gray fur stuck on a branch from the camp entrance.

River walked over to the entrance and looked outside. She saw a cat without… legs?

“Like you could do that, Shock!” The weird cat laughed at another cat. The other cat looked like lightning. He was yellow and orange with a thunderbolt under each eye.

“Well, looks like we have an other around” The orange cat, Shock, hissed as he stared at River.

“Uh… sorry?” River whispered as she backed away slowly.

Shock lunged forward. As he did, River ran back to the camp.

“Everyone is frozen dear, so no one can help you now” The other cat teased as she appeared out of nowhere.

Shock hissed at her, “I saw her first, Aura. She's mine!”

River backed away slowly from the arguing cats and tried to dash back into the woods. As she did they called out in anger and chased after her.

‘Death, help me…’, River cried out in her head.
