"we're here, baby" you turn back and say to your daughter in the backseat so she can unbuckle her seatbelt.you undo your own and open her door, pulling her out and into a hug.
"be a good girl, okay? mommy loves you, have fun! go ahead and ring the doorbell, i'll wait until you're inside"
olivia smiles and nods, running up the driveway and stopping at the front door to ring the doorbell and gently knock as you get back into the driver's seat, watching.
ethan smiles as he opens the door, looking down at your five year old daughter, who's there for his weekend with her.
he notices you drive away once you know that she's safe and with him. he sighs because you still refuse to come out and talk to him when you drop her off.
even though it's only been six months, it feels like it's been much longer. this was your arrangement, he would get to spend every other weekend with her.
he bends down to scoop her up into his arms and she giggles. he walks inside after closing and locking the door so that they can sit on the couch and watch a movie.
"how was your week, livbug?"
"it was good, daddy, i learned how to tie my shoes!"
ethan smiles and says,"no way, show me!"
she pulls up her foot and he unties her shoe so she can show him. she makes two loops, calling them bunny ears. she drops one of them and says,"i guess i didn't"
ethan picks her up and sits her on his lap,"it's okay we can work on it later, bug." he then tickles her, causing her to erupt in laughter.
he savors the sound of his little girl's laugh, noticing how much she looks like you as she scrunches her nose.
"you look so much like mommy"
her eyes light up thinking of you,"really? mommy's so pretty, i wanna be like mommy"
his heart warms at the thought of you, too, and how much she admires you.
"yes, mommy's very pretty, and so are you, liv, you look just like her." smiling again, she pulls him into a big hug. "i love you daddy"
"i love you too, baby" he responds and presses a kiss to her forehead
as they embrace each other, ethan's mind can't help but to wonder what your lives would have been like if you were still together
his heart breaks a little more each time he ponders on the subject, knowing it would and could never happen, and that was his fault. you had basically cut him out of your life, and he accepted that, knowing he had hurt you so much before.
but he would always have your daughter
who carried pieces of you inside of her
and he would take all he could get-
this is so bad and messy i am so sorry, but i'm really trying to get back into writing!! i have so many ideas and scenarios in my head that i can't wait to write about. if you want to, go ahead and check out my other social media in my bio!
