I sat on Jack's couch, watching as he dampened a wet cloth to help me clean my hands up. He hadn't spoken a word to me the whole walk down here, which I knew was a bad sign. I still, however, did not regret doing what I did to Jane. She deserved every punch talking the way she did.
"You know," Jack started, turning from the sink and bringing the cloth over to where I sat. "I'm not mad at you for what you did to Jane," he said, making me look to him in confusion since I was pretty positive he was. It might have been fifteen years apart, but I still knew my Jack.
"I know you're mad, you don't have to lie," I told, as Jack placed the warm cloth onto my hand to wipe away the blood. The first touch of it to my open wounded skin made me flinch, but Jack noticed and immediately stopped.
"Charlotte, I'm really not mad about you hurting Jane. She deserved it," he said, looking to me who was shocked he said such a thing. "I am, however, mad about how you could have gotten hurt," he ended, bringing my bloodied hands up to my view. "Like this," he added, making me shrug as he continued with cleaning them up.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get that into it. She just insulted you and I couldn't take that," I responded, watching as Jack finished up with the cloth and went over to grab some gauze.
"I know, but hurting yourself over the matter doesn't help," he replied back, coming over to wrap my hands up. He was very good at helping me whenever I was hurt, it was like he was trained or something.
"I won't do it again," I whispered to him, making him nod and stand up from the couch.
"I hope," he smiled down to me, making me stand up as well and kiss him quick on the cheek.
"Thanks for coming with me to my parents, even if it ended up badly..." I drifted, since that was definitely not what I was expecting to happen. "And thanks for patching me up too," I giggled, looking down to my hands as he laughed too.
"It's okay, I'm just glad you're alright now," he caringly said, lifting my chin up to look at him and kissing me on the lips. I smiled from not expecting him to do that and kissed him back ever so carefully. "Charlotte," he said, removing his lips from mine as he spoke. Looking up to him he continued, "did you really try to invite my dad and I to your Christmas dinner?" he smiled, making me laugh as I nudged him.
"It's embarrassing how much I liked you back then," I replied, making him take a step away from me and raise an eyebrow.
"Back then? Are you trying to say you don't like me now?" he laughed, making me nudge him down onto the couch and sit facing him in his lap. His arms wrapped around me almost instinctively, protecting me from any harm that possibly could come.
"You know that's not that I meant," I smiled to him, his eyes never leaving mine as I spoke. Smiling back at me, soon I could tell we both weren't thinking about anything else other than each other and I liked that. "I never stopped loving you, Jack. Even after you left," I whispered, my lips wanting to trail all over his body, but not doing so in the moment.
"I never stopped loving you either. Leaving you was the hardest thing I ever had to do and I will never do it again." he told back, making me smile as I leaned into his chest. "However," he started, making me get up from him and look at him with a glare. "I do have to leave to prepare for tonight," he smiled, making me laugh and get off him as he stood up as well. "I have about twenty minutes, though, so..." he lingered, making me wonder what he was about to say before he picked me up completely and took off with me down the hall. Laughing, I was so happy to be there with Jack, it was almost like home...
"Jack, let me down!" I screeched, as he picked me up and carried me upstairs to our bedroom. My laughs echoed throughout the house, wanting to cheer every inch of it up. "You're going to drop me! You're going to drop me!" I seemed to chant, as he walked up the stairs and went down the hallway to our bedroom. Tossing me down onto the bed, I plopped onto our soft mattress which was merely laying on the floor due to just moving into our home that day. Giggling, I watched as he came over to me and pinned me down onto the bed.
"Our first memory in this house has to be a good one, doesn't it?" he wondered, making me smile up to him as he kissed me long and slow, like what I always watched in the movies. Jack was my dream come true and our new house added so much more to that dream...
Coming back into reality, I giggled as Jack plopped me onto the bed, just like when we first moved into our home together. He came over me and pinned me down, making me look up to him with tears welled in my eyes. I hated remembering the past sometimes, but boy did I completely love it now...
