Unexpected

Chapter 8

"Jessie, what has gotten into you?" My mom says as we walk into the house.

I sigh heavily as I take off my backpack, "Nothing has gotten into me mom."

"Then why'd you attack her?"

"Because she deserved it!" I yell.

"Don't raise your voice at me." She says sternly.

I pinch the bridge of my nose and run a hand through my wavy brunette hair. "I won't do it again. I'm sorry. Can we drop it now?" I say as calmly as I can.

Daniel walks in and looks at me. "What's going on?"

"Nothing." I respond.

"It's not nothing! She attacked a girl a school today." Mom says placing a hand on her hip.

"You what?" Daniel says pretending his shocked. "Upstairs right now young lady. You're grounded."

"You're not gonna tell me what to do!" I yell at Daniel and then placed my eyes on my mom. "Mom you don't even understand! I wish you would hear me out instead of acting like I attacked her for no damn reason! You never ask me how schools going for me but instead you're too caught up with Daniel! You've changed so much since dad left and Daniel came into our lives! You don't give a damn about how we feel about him, you just married him because you 'love' him!" I yell quoting the word love. "You don't love him, you just married him because dad left and you wanted to take away the pain! Daniel never be my dad and I hope you know that." I yell. My mom has a shocked look on her face while Daniel has a mad expression. I could care less. I run upstairs and slam my door.

I can't believe that bastard is trying to act like my dad. I just want to leave I don't want to be here.

My door opens and I see Daniel walking towards me. I back up until my back hits the wall.

"Listen you little whore, your daddy isn't here anymore, he obviously doesn't give two shits about you so I suggest you give me some respect because I'm your dad now." He whispers/yells at me.

I glare at him as he gives me a nasty look. He walks out my door and I go to it and lock it.

I run a hand over my face and walk slowly to my bed to sit on it. I look at the time and it's 3:57pm. I lay down on my bed and wait for Ben to get home.

I wake up from a nap I didn't even mean to take. I look at the time to see that it's 8:38pm. I sigh and get up. Ben should be home by now so I go downstairs to see Daniel watching tv. I quickly make a U-turn and go back upstairs quietly. I knock on Bens door and he responds as soon as I knocked.

"Come in." He says from inside the door.

I open the door to see Ben doing homework at his desk. "When did you come home?" I ask.

"About an hour ago." He says with his eyes still on his homework. He puts his pencil down and looks at me. "Are you okay?"

"Oh yeah, I'm fine." I assure him. "I was just wondering."

He nods his head and goes back to working. I leave his room and see Beth walking upstairs. I ignore her and try to walk to my room.

"Wait Jessie." Beth says behind me.

I ignore her again but she grabs my arm. "Let go of me." I say yanking my arm away from her.
