'Wherever'
Ended up being
An abandoned parking lot.We all relax,
With closed eyes,
As we listen
To the music,
Lulling us to sleep.Have you ever cut yourself?
Paisley asks,
Breaking the silence,
And leaning over the console,
To stare me in my now opened eyes. No,
I tell her,
Taking notice of Kyler's sleeping form,
Have you?She nods slowly,
Pulling up her shirt sleeve.I turn on the light,
And stare
In astonishment.Scars,
Old and new,
Run from
The beginning of her wrist,
To her inner elbow.Oh my God,
I whisper,
Your arm looks like
Hamburger meat.Paisley,
I say,
Still studying her cuts,
Why?She giggles,
Drunkenly,
Why do you starve yourself? My eyes avert,
Quickly,
To hers.What?
I breathe.Her
Blue
Eyes
Change.Paisley's words
Come quick
And urgently.Ana doesn't have to
Control you,
She only will
If you let her.You know Ana?
I ask,
Not sure whether to be
Thrilled
Or
Scared.She smiles a smile,
That reminds me
Of my own.A weak attempt.
Ana is a monster,
Preslee.
Don't let her win.I stare at her.
Her face,
Hollow and pale.
Her eyes,
Dead as space.
Her lips,
Chapped and blistered. It takes me some time
To realize
I'm looking at a
Future version of
Myself.Don't let her win,
She tells me again,
Before laying back down,
And falling into what I hope
Is a blissful sleep.
