"Are you sure this is the last time, Akemi-san? This is the fifth time we've moved in the past 2 months." Amaya groaned, her green eyes uninterestedly scanning the scenery through the raindrop splattered window. Trees flickered from left to right, their evergreen shades standing out against the azure sky.
"We're sorry, Maya. Please understand that it is very hard to control the business in one location alone. However, we've stabilized ourselves here in Kyoto so moving won't be necessary anymore." She explained carefully, smiling at her daughter.
Amaya sighed. She had acquired a little amount of friends and a social life in general due to their constant relocation. She was glad to still have Daiki and Suki, her childhood friends, but had to leave them and Tokyo after 6 months. They still kept in contact, which Amaya was very grateful for.
"What high school am I going to?" Amaya asks curiously. It was almost November, meaning that she would have to transfer in the middle of the term.
A silenced ensued for a full minute as Akemi paused to think.
"Rakuzan. The chauffier will take you there at 7:30, so be sure to be ready before then." Her father's strict voice boomed from the shotgun seat, his tone interlaced with cold ice that could freeze your spine by its sheer authority alone.
Amaya indirectly rolled her eyes. It was only her first day settling into Kyoto, and already she was being forced into a school. It couldn't be helped, she guessed, she was late enough enrolling to begin with.
"Yes, Haru-san." She complied reluctantly, her unoccupied gaze shifting back to the car window.
-
Rakuzan was huge. And that was putting it mildly.
The campus was large, decorated with fountains and stretched out, filled with bustling and busy students rushing to their classes, some dropping their papers carelessly and leaving them due to their clumsiness.
"Kirishima-chan?"
The blonde turned abruptly, coming face to face with a small, brown eyed girl. A wide grin adorned her features, making her look both friendly and cheerful.
"Just call me Maya. It's nice to meet you." She smiles back at the raven head.
Suddenly, a poke was directed into both her cheeks.
"S-sorry! I have a weakness for dimples," the small girl laughed awkwardly. "My name's Kurosaki Hikaru, it's nice to meet you too." She bowed.
The two walked together to the main office, Hikaru explaining to Amaya that she had been assigned as her designated guide for the day, to which the latter replied with another dimpled smile and friendly conversation.
Hikaru noticed that the girl next to her seemed to be always happy. She had a bounce in her step and serenity in her green eyes, which attracted countless stares directed to the both of them as they walked around the school, exploring.
"Say, Maya-chan, you're really tall. You make me seem like an ant next to you." The raven haired girl observed.
"Hmm? Oh, right. Apparently my mother and father were both very tall people. My doctor says that I'm about 6'0, but she doesn't know if I'll continue growing." She explains.
Hikaru noticed that Maya had referred to her parents in past tense, but she wasn't brave enough to comment any further on it, afraid that she would upset her newly acquired friend.
