Episode 15

I went to find Claire to apologize for my actions. I found her in an on call room.

"I came to apologize for my actions" I said

"why did you shut me down like that?" She asked

"Because my wife was a great woman. an excellent surgeon and a great mother. She put her all into everything she did. When she died she took a peice of me with her. I thought you would come in and be just like her. Whe you lied about being a fetal surgeon it struck a nerve because she worked her whole life to be where she was. This case was like our baby I wished we would do it together but things just didnt work out that way." I said

"I understand what i did was wrong and unprofessional. I truly did have the best intentions. I know she was an excellant woman I studied under here for years. HSe had great work and was doing great things in the medical world. I wish I would have been able to meet her." She said.

"If you would like you can scrub in on the surgery." I said.

"who will be doing the fetal surgery?" She asked.

"Dr. Robbins/" I said

" I will be there." She said.

I walked out and went to find Arizona to see hwat plan she wanted to take on the case. I ran ito Dr. Minnick in the hall and she stopped me.

"Dr. Avery may I have a word with you?" She asked.

"Uh sure hwat is it?" I asked.

" I didnt get a chance to tell you I am sorry for your loss. Dr. Avery was a great woman to work with." She said.

"Even though she tried to get you fired." I asked.

"That's all  water under the bridge." She said.

"Alright thank you." I said.

"Oh and I will be scrubbing in on your surgery with Dr. Edwards." she said.

"Uh okay." I said/

I got into the OR and scrubbed in I walked in and got my gloves and gown. I looked at Dr. Robbins and nodded my head. we began to cut into Mrs.Jenkins and fixed her baby.

"Dr. Avery?" Dr. Bailey said from the door.

"Yes?" I asked

"Can I see you for a moment." She asked

"Kind of busy can it wait." I asked.

" I dont think you want it to." She said.

"Dr. Edwards can you finish the graph?" I asked.

"Yes." She said.

I wrapped my hands and went out to see what Dr. Bailey wanted.

"When I tell you this don't go crazy or anything." She said.

"What is it/" I asked.

"Dr. Marks is Ayy'Verynn's daughter." she said.

"Your joking that isnt possible." I said

"It is Ayy'Verynn messed around with an older man when she was in high school. SHe got pregnant at 15 and when she had the baby the guy took her up to Boston and Ayy'Verynn never seen her again." she said.

"Calire has to be at least 25 it isnt possible." I said.

"Jackson she is 23 she got Ayy'Verynn's smarts and graduated highschool at 15 and went straight to college. Its true if you want we can test her and Kali and their maternal DNA will come back the same." she said.

"Who told you this?" i asked still not believeing it.

"Her father is in the waiting room/ he heard about her death and wanted to see you." She said.

I turned around and walked into the OR where Dr. Marks was/

"When were you going to tell me you were my wifes daughter?" I asked.

"Jackson lets not do this now?" she said.

"Is the patient closed?" I asked

"Yes." Arizona said.

"then lets do it now. Claire here is Ayy'Verynn's daughter that she had when she was 15. The father took her to Boston and Ayy'Verynn never saw her again." I said.

"I searched everywhere for my mom I could never find her." She said.

"Now you come back when she is dead and expect something of her's?" I asked.

"No! My mom didnt do anything for me. My dad told me she died in labor with me." She said.

"Because your dad took you away from her." I said.

"Why didnt she try to find me?" She asked

"Because they told ayy'Verynn at the hospital you had died. That's why she became a fetal and NeoNatal surgeon." Meredith said from behind me.

"You knew?" I asked.

"Yes but she swore me to secrecy. she didnt wnat to tell you." She said.

"My dad would never do that?" SHe said.

"Let's go ask him." I said.

We walked to the waiting area where her father stood.

"Dad you told my mo I died and then took me to Boston?" she asked.

"Claire I was going to tell you when you got older but there was never a right time." He said.

"Why would you do that?" She asked.

"Because your mother was young she didnt need a child in her life. i knew she would do great things. She didnt need a child to tie her down. I was already established and well off." He said.

"So you sent her around thinking her mom was dead and now that she is dead you tell her this." I asked.

"You didnt have to go throught what I did. I loved Ayy'Verynn." He said.

"That was no excuse to tell her her child died." I said.

" Claire I am sorry." He said.

"I will nevr forgive you. You kept me from knowing a great woman a woman I looked up to in medical school." Claire said walking away.
