as I ran after Kagome regretfully, the unknown watcher from the trees soared through the forest canopy.

he was leaving, but, a nagging thought in his mind and a scent under his nose eventually lead him back.

we were gone when he arrived, of course, so calmly he walks down the pathway we were on before stopping to find the mask I had made to scare Kagome with.

silently he just observed, then picks it up and stares at it.

"This scent, I know it's you, Ku no Shiro." he narrows his eyes in memory, but they looked angry.

I finally got Kagome to calm down, and we resumed walking like normal people again.

"I'm sorry Kagome, I just wanted to cheer you up." I apologized sincerely.

She exhaled with relief in a funny girly way, "it's alright, I guess I needed to come to my senses and stop acting like a sissy anyway." she smiled.

I grinned back, but grew silent and watched the ground as we passed by.

"I suppose I played that joke to get my mind off these sudden changes in appearance." my voice echoed in my head.

"However, it's not too different from how I grew up."

"When I was a young girl I was so different from everyone else, I didn't have the normal black or brown hair, or brown eyes. when I was around Sota's age, mom took me to a doctor's appointment. I sat alone on a chair holding a toy, the doctors and nurses stared at me with concern, sometimes they looked scared. as I grew it became visible that I was different, I was born with lime green eyes and an odd head of hair that grew into two colors, black and bright green, a single color on each side. the doctors said I was a medical anomaly, but mom loved me and thought I was normal." I look back up after having the flashback.

and suddenly Kagome and I came to an opening..

"Come on! here's an opening!" she ran ahead.

I tried to keep up with her, so I chased her again.

the both of us stop firmly, we could barely believe what was in front of our eyes.

the sun brightly lit up the cliff we stood on..

"it's a village," Kagome muttered in surprise and shielded her eyes from the sun.

"Should we go?" I ask politely.

"Yeah! this might be our only chance of finding help!" her voice was high and cheery like it usually was.

she scurried down the slope smiling back at me, so I knew to follow.

I ran toward the village behind her, but I felt a little nervous, I had a bad feeling.

these villagers must be normal people, so what will they think when they see me?

walking into the village, it was very busy but clean and large.

the gravel was a rich brown, you'd imagine it to be rough, but it was actually quite soft.

suddenly, it happened just as I thought it would.

"Demon!" "Demon!" some of the villagers shout frantically.

"Lady Kaede! There's a Demon in the village!" a man runs to retrieve someone.

"Peace ye all..." an old woman dressed in white, and red approaches while she puts her hand up.

the villagers tied Kagome and myself up and put us on the ground over a soft weaved bamboo mat..

the old woman observes us with her eyebrows furrowed..
