I don't wanna feel blue anymore.
P I P E R
Before Piper even knew it, it was the end of the school year and they were travelling to the platform.
She sat in a compartment with Rose and Albus, as they always did at the start or end of the year. She didn't miss the way Albus' eyes always seemed to be resting on her when he thought she wasn't looking, with that expression on his face..
The one Piper couldn't describe, the one she only normally saw when he was with his parents or siblings, the one that spoke of complete trust and, well, love.
She didn't miss the way Rose looked between them curiously, with a hint of hope and joy. She didn't miss the way that, halfway through the journey, Albus shifted nearer her on the train seat, the way he was so close that when he turned his head his breath stirred her hair...
She knew he was thinking about the same things as her. The fact that this time next year, they'd be leaving Hogwarts for the last time. Going away forever, not for just the summer.
Everything was so close to ending, and Piper knew that, like her, Albus was thinking that they... Well.
They should do something.
It was simple, wasn't it? They were just two people who loved each other.
Simple as simple could be.
"I'm going to go and find Fred," Rose said, glancing at the now nonexisent space between Albus and Piper. "I'll be a while."
How subtle, Piper thought, smiling to herself and feeling a strong rush of affection towards her best friend.
"Pipes," Albus began, and she turned to face him- turned, forgetting that they were so close they were practically one person, and then caught her breath, because his face was so close to hers that she could see the flecks of gold in his startling green eyes.
"Albus," Piper breathed, just his name, nothing else, and he leant forwards, softly, slowly, carefully and brushed his lips against hers.
It only lasted a second, or was supposed to, before Piper leant forwards again and suddenly, they were kissing, his mouth against hers, her back pressed almost painfully against the train window. "Piper," Albus mumbled as they breathed. "Piper."
His hands were tangled in her hair, pulling her closer to him, ever closer, his lips soft on hers, tasting of chocolate and strawberries- why strawberries, Piper wondered, and then decided she didn't really care as she gripped the back of Albus' neck.
"I love you," she whispered softly, barely a breath. She didn't know if he could hear her- didn't really mind, even, because she knew it, and that was all that mattered.
But he stopped kissing her for a second and stared at her, his eyes shining with some emotion Piper couldn't place. "I love you too," he said. Suddenly, Piper saw the emotion that was in his eyes- love. He loved her.
Her blood fizzed in her veins, and her lips pulled up in a smile she couldn't control. "Good," she said, and leant upwards to kiss him again.
Damn.
