Nothing's too crazy if it makes you notice me.

I could dimly hear talking as I walked downstairs from the domitry, holding a letter from my mother and smiling.

Dear Pipes, she had written.

I hope you're okay at school, and not failing in any of your studies. I still don't understand what 'Transfiguration' is, or why you have to do Muggle studies... I'm a muggle, you know all about Muggles! I'm thinking of complaining. Well, you know me, I won't complain as long as you're happy. How are Rose, and Albus? You haven't mentioned them in a while, I think Dad is getting worried.

That's all I have time for now, me and Dad will write again soon.

Love you, Mum
xx

'You have to tell her,' someone hissed. 'She doesn't even know, Albus-'

'I don't have to do anything, Rose,' someone else replied sharply.

I paused on the stairs, blinking. It sounded like Rose and Albus arguing- but about what?

Just go down and say good morning, I thought. You know what they say- something about people who listen in hear nothing good about themselves. Or something. Just go down and pretend you heard nothing.

But I couldn't move. It felt like my feet were stuck to the staircase.

'You're so far in the friend zone she doesn't even see you as anything more,' Rose scoffed. 'I'm doing all I can.'

'I've heard about your all you can, Rose. She's annoyed by it, I think.'

'Let's be real here, Albus, and just say it: you know nothing about how girls' brains work. You thinking she's annoyed by it is about as concrete as wet parchment!' Rose snapped.

Okay, Piper, move. Act casual. I was wishing I'd left as soon as I heard Albus and Rose talking. From the sounds of it, they were talking about me- and I didn't understand it in the slightest. I wasn't sure I wanted to, either.

I swung the door to the common room open. 'Hey, guys,' I said cheerfully, walking in before I could hear anything else I wasn't supposed to. 'Good morning.'

Albus closed his mouth with a snap. 'Hi, Piper. Morning.'

Rose looked slightly embarrassed, to her credit, but nothing compared to Albus, who was bright red. 'We were just talking about you,' Rose said brightly.

'Er, great,' I said. The air was thick with tension and awkwardness- mostly awkwardness. 'I'm just going to write to my mum in the Owlery. Gotta go!'

And I fled the room like I was on fire.

Wow, smooth, Pipes, I thought scornfully. So smooth.

I know I know, I leave for ages and then give you this 400 word crap chapter. Sorry!

I promise next chapter will be better. Pinky promise.

Hope you enjoyed forever alone day and pancake day! Did you give anything up for lent?

I'm not Christian but I attempted giving up Wattpad, failed, and I'm trying to give up tea but I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms. :(

See you soon (tomorrow if you're lucky and if I can be bothered)

xxx Jade
