Chapter 1 • Old New Friends

Hayes's POV

It was finally the first day of school. Or should I say, the day everyone wishes they could die and never come back

I'm just happy I'm finally in the 8th grade

This summer has been pretty good so far. My brother and I started doing six second videos called "vines" during our free time. We've also been spending a lot of time with our dad

I walked down the hall to the bathroom to get ready. I can't wait to see some of my friends. Hopefully people won't try to be friends with me because of my famous brothers. Believe me I've already had way too many friends like that already and I'm not looking forward with more.

I head downstairs after my quick shower.

"Morning mom" I walked over to her and kissed her on her cheek.

"Morning hun!" She handed me my plate of pancakes and bacon and I dug in right away.

"Hayes!" Yelled Skylynn as she walked in rubbing her eyes with her little hands.

"Aye! Look at your messy weave" Nash teased while slapping my face as his 'good morning'

I sat on the couch watching some morning cartoons before we had to leave. Mom had to drop off me and Nash at school.

"Oh Hayes, Nash! We have new neighbours. I totally forgot to tell you guys last night." my mom smiled walking into the living room taking a seat on the couch.

"Who are they?" Nash asked while taking a bite into his begle.

"They are the West's" Wait, why does that name sound familiar, "I met them this morning and they seem like very nice people. Especially their very beautiful daughter. I think she is your age Hayes, she's going to be attending your school as well." She gave me a big smile, meaning that I should talk to the girl.

"Mom.." I groan.

"She's a very nice girl Hayes. She reminds me of your old friend from elementary before we moved."

~

When I was in 2nd grade became best friends with a girl named Jane West. She was really kind, smart and funny. We were friends till 5th grade then I had to move away. I was really sad, like who wouldn't be. I didn't have any friends when we moved. I wasn't really into sports but that changed and started playing football, which helped me make a lot of friends. In the 6th grade I realized I had strong feelings for Jane because I missed her so much. I know we were so young but I don't know how else to describe it. I couldn't stop thinking about her. I tried to move on, but I just couldn't do that. It was too late because I'm here and she's all the way in Seattle.

In 7th grade

I dated this girl named Melissa. I only did because she was nice to me and didn't use me for my popularity. Before the year ended I had to break up with her because she reminded me too much of Jane. She wasn't so happy about it but I was too unhappy to even do anything. I eventually got over Jane... I think.

~

"Yeah?" I snapped back to reality.

"The daughter is named Ariana. I'm going to give her a ride to school today since her parents are working early and don't have time to drop her off. And they don't know their way around here." I giver her a look and she continues, "I'm just being friendly, also I invited her over so she won't have to wait for us alone in her home"
