Chapter 1/ New student

(Jieun’s POV)

“Ah! I’m running late again!” I kissed my mum and dad goodbye and off I went to school. I kept running, and bang! A stupid idiot bumped into me. I looked up and it was a guy. He held out a hand and offered to help me up.

I stood up by myself, rejecting his offer and kept running. “Aish! Because of him, I’m going to be late for school.” I complained while running.

The bell rang and I was just in time for class. I neatened up my uniform and went to my seat.

“We have a new student today! Please welcome him.” Our teacher said.

The new student walked in and as soon as I saw his face, I recognised him, he was the idiot that bumped into me but how did he get here so fast? As far as I could remember, he wasn’t running.

“Please introduce yourself” Mr Kim, our homeroom teacher told him.

 “I’m Lee Hongki, please take care of me” this guy was weird, he didn’t have much emotion in his face, he didn’t smile, and instead he looks kind of sad. He wore his uniform messily and I’m surprised Mr Kim said nothing about it, he’s going to get in trouble someday. All the girls in my class were staring at him like he was some kind of treasure, I admit he looks hot but his attitude annoys me. Mr Kim gave him the empty seat right in front of me.

I gave him a light tap on his shoulders and he turned around. “Anyeong! I’m Lee Jieun”. “Anyeong” he answered and then looked back. The whole class looked at me even my best friend Suzy. I gave them a What? Look on my face and they all turned back facing the white board.

The class ended. “Yah! Jieun” Suzy called. “Let’s go see the new kid, he seems interesting.” She said. “More like you’re interested.” I said to her. She smiled and dragged me into the cafeteria. “Can you say hello to him and I’ll stand behind you” She basically demanded. Before I could protest, she pushed me in front of the table that he was sitting at, and people started staring. I managed to pull out a smile, “Anyeong… again”. He smirked, “Anyeong”. “Can my friend and I take a seat here?” I asked. “Yeah” he answered, he only gives short answers doesn’t he?

“Oh! Hongki! Anyeong!” A girl’s voice suddenly came from behind us. He smiled to her and gave a cheerful greeting. “Jiyoung, Anyeong!” He greeted.

“I didn’t know you moved to this school.” She said. “And you met some new friends as well.” She smiled at us. “Anyeinghasaeyo, Kang Jiyoung imnida” She greeted brightly. “Anyeonghasaeyo” Suzy and I both greeted back. She was so pretty compared to me. She was almost as pretty as Suzy, but since Suzy is my best friend, she’s prettier than any girls in my heart. “What’s your name?” She asked me and Suzy. “Suzy imnida” Suzy greeted. “Ji eun” I smiled. Her personality seems really outgoing.
