Chace Crawford as Brandon Summers at the side

*

For the second time today, I woke up. I looked around and realized that this must be my room. It was painted a gorgeous pale green color, and there was a nice flatscreen TV in front of my bed, which I realized was queen sized. There was a door at the side, which I think leads towards the bathroom, and at the other side, there was a pretty big closet with a mirror and beside it was a small desk with a green desk lamp and a cushioned chair.

I stretched out, and smiled how comfortable were the new feather pillows and the cottony feel of my comforter. I got up and went in my bathroom.

It only had a shower, but there was a big enough sink to place all of me necessities in. I checked my reflection. My eye make up was a bit smudged, then I remembered rubbing my eyes before lying down on the couch. I washed up and tied my hair into a messy bun.

I found my luggage near my door, and started digging for some clothes. Finally, I found some silky pajamas and a black tank top. I sat down once again on my bed after changing, and I remembered what time it was back home.

I bet Emma and Nicole just got out of class. I promised that I’d Skype with them when I settled here. I looked at my digital clock. It was just eight o’four. I started digging through my duffel bag, and arranged my laptop on the study table.

As I waited for the laptop to power up, I peeked out of my room. It was pitch black, meaning that Cody must be sleeping now.

I sat down on the comfortable chair with one of my pillows and logged in Skype. Just in time, they logged in too. I waited for them to call.

Finally, the two girls greeted me, and seeing their smiles sent a pang in my stomach. One thing I missed back home were my two best friends.

“Allie!” The two exclaimed, and all I could do was give them a huge smile. “Hey guys, I already miss you!” I said sadly.

Emma clipped her vibrant red hair up as she talked to me. “Everyone’s been missing you here, Allie. They wished that you would’ve stayed, but we all know how it is.” Nicole nodded, giving me a half smile. “We’ll be seeing you in the funeral.”

I felt a pang in my chest, and maybe even less a fraction of a second, they knew that I still wasn’t totally okay in talking about mom. Emma elbowed Nicole as she realized what she said.

“Anyway, so did you know that my dentist said I could take off my retainers in a couple of weeks from now!” She said, obviously trying to cover up what she said, and it worked. She knew I was easily distracted.

We talked about what happened in school today. It was their first day in being a senior, and I would be starting mine next week, since school starts late here. It must’ve been hours, since I suddenly yawned, and the two apologized.

“Oh gosh, Als, we forgot you must be really jet lagged. We’ll let you go sleep.”

I couldn’t say anything against it though, knowing that the two would force me too. After biding goodbye, I logged off and turned off my laptop, and then took off the plug. I lied on my bed, but I still wasn't tired.

I haven't slept well at night times, not since mom died.
