Midnight Hike

~ Music: Timber - Pitbull ~

-------------------------------------------

I lay in bed letting the stress of the day slowly met away with the passing seconds of the hour. As each hour passed I felt my body grow tired and my eyes slowly drifting closed. It wasn't until the start of my dream that I realised I had fallen into a long awaited slumber.

*Dream Realm*

The sound of the gentle breeze blowing the leaves from the trees made its way to my ears, the elegant dance as they fell to the floor a beautiful sight to behold. The chirping of the insects as they retired for the night as they retired for the night as this strange place from where I awoke started to descend into a quiet slumber all of its own.Walking and wondering, moving through the place that was an ordinary forest. I felt like a pulling force moved me through this place as if it wanted me to belong here.

As I continued to move through the forest a simple tree came into view, but with branches thick with age and leaves tinted with browns and oranges, the toning and darkening of them made it feel like spring and autumn were intertwining with one another whilst acting upon the nature of this tree.

The faintest of sound trailed through the air as I continued to wonder through the forest which I felt like I knew. Moving deeper into this strange place, the sky was surrounding the forest in darkness, which was only made bearable by the moon that rested high in the sky, allowing a gentle but eerie radiation of light to submerge into the forest.

Further and deeper I travelled, the sound becoming more recognisable as it started to sound like a voice of sorts. "My child, I've waited for this moment. Place your hands upon the tree and all will be revealed." The voice echoed through my head.Slowly inching closer and closer to the tree, I began to study every inch of its rough bark, every indent and inch of distress that the tree had clearly achieved over centuries of growth, I admired the beauty that was radiating from the roots of the tree, all the ways up to the beautiful mix of greens and auburn leaves. It was difficult to think of anything but the tree, yet when I did think of something else, it was the draw I felt towards the tree.

I was compelled by outside forces to touch and feel the strength within this tree, and I knew, somewhere inside of me that I needed to move away, I felt terror build up within me. I was unable to move away and the more I struggled, the more I felt attached to the tree. Just when I was about to let exhaustion rule, I watched in amazement as a green light began to emit from where my hands lay upon the tree.

As the glow grew before my eyes, not a sound could be heard within the forest, the sounds of the animals that had lingered in the back of my mind, the sounds of rustling leaves scuttling across the ground, they all disappeared. As suddenly as it came, the light vanished, leaving spots dancing across my eyes.

Blinking quickly, I looked around in an attempt to regain my sight quicker, the trees and the shadows that danced before me leaving a cold shiver to run down my spine. As I finally began to see things with the light of the moon, I noticed a coloured object, the similar colour of the light that had blinded me just moments before.

Reaching towards the strange pendent I heard that voice, the one that had gotten me into this mess, again."Take the pendent, my child and secretes of nature you will discover." As I thought about what that mysterious voice said, I grabbed the pendent and wrapped it around my wrist so that the charm was placed in the middle of my palm. Looking down I felt a shiver of fear rush through my body, - 'What was so special about this necklace?'

As my hand closed in around the pendent I watched as the green glow started to fade, but only for my veins to glow green, like a strange sort of energy was travelling through every fibre of my body. As the glowing started to fade from my body, I started to feel myself become lightheaded.Slowly the darkness closed in around me, the sight of the forest becoming harder and harder to see. With every passing minute the burnt amber colour of the spring leaves disappeared from my sight, turning my head up towards the sky, I watched as it got further and further from my reach, only to find that I was in fact now lying down on a bed of leaves and dirt.

As the light started to trickle in from the window, lighting the pale mocha cream walls

As the light started to trickle in from the window, lighting the pale mocha cream walls. I started to stir from my slumber that had left me without a question or an answer but the thought that I have never slept so peacefully before. I turned from one side to another, until I final swung my legs out from beneath the covers only for my eyes to lay in shock as I noticed a faint sliver of green glow radiating from atop my dresser.

Rushing over I saw the last thing that you would ever think of seeing, it was the strange pendent from my dream. "What the actual hell, that's not even possible."

Grasping the pendent I heard that voice again, only this time it sounds much closer than I remembered, "Listen child, keep it closer and never far. This pendent will show you more than your eyes will see. Secrets and mysterious are nothing to fair, as long as your pendent isn't far.

As the riddle or rhyme of the voice rang throughout my head I notice that the pendent was glowing a much more vivid

~ Chapter Question ~

Q4) How do you think that the pendant was able to show up in Alicia's room after she dreamed about it?

This question even I'm not a 100% sure about myself and I wrote it.
