I'm back!.... I know, I know, I deserve to fall into a pothole because of how long it took me to update and I won't bore you with excuses of how I was super busy. I just want to thank you for being so patient and sticking with this story. You rock!
Happy reading...
"Ah!" I screamed, covering my eyes in horror. "I've gone blind!"
"Bitch," I heard her mutter under her breath.
I looked up at my best friend and grinned. "Hey, Hoe."
She rolled her eyes and turned around, heading for our favorite spot in the whole house- the fridge. I shut her door and headed after her. Claire had a messy look going for her, making it seem like she just rolled out of bed. Knowing her, she probably did. She'd yanked open the front door moments ago with puffy eyes and her normally smooth hair barely held together at the back of her head with a plastic hair clip.
She pulled two mugs out of her cupboard and I grabbed the kettle of boiling water that was waiting on the stove, filling on of the cups and dunking a tea bag into in, watching as the flavor seeped out and colored the water, the steam curling over the top in delicate swirls. I added one and a half teaspoons of sugar and slid the cup across the table, receiving my coffee as Claire sat down.
It started off as a joke that turned into a tradition and I never made myself a cup of coffee when I was at Claire's house. Instead, I make her tea.
"You ok?" she asked, gazing at me with concern.
I cracked a little ambivalent smile and nodded. I hadn't talked to my mom since yesterday and I don't know what's worse- arguing or acting like the other is invisible.
"I would ask you why you're here so early, but I've come to the conclusion that there is no method to your madness."
"I got bored," I said nonchalantly. After spending the totality of yesterday moping, I didn't feel like spending another day in the presence of my parents' superior attitudes.
She glanced at me skeptically but didn't demand more information. One of the best things about Claire was that she didn't push boundaries. She respected your decisions on what to share and when and for that I was forever grateful.
"Well," she said, putting her cup down and licking her lips. "I know just what to do today."

I stared at the thing in front of me with horror. How could my closest companions do this to me?
Jesse took a step forward to stand next to me, elbowing me in the side. "Close your mouth. You don't want to catch flies now, do you?"
I shot him a glare and he shook his head at me. "I mean, if you want to attract those flying monster be my guest, I just thought you wouldn't cause that's gross as fuck-"
"Not that you blond idiot! Why did you let her bring me here?"
"You want me to go against Medusa? Are you on crack?" he responded incredulously.
When I didn't bother to respond he put his hands on my shoulders and pushed my forward. "Come on, Em. Woman up already."
I shook my head in dismay as Claire grabbed my hand and led me to the gates of hell.
"Honestly, you're such a drama queen. It's an amusement park, not the dentist." This time it was Claire trying to urge me inside.
