Your mate is supposed to be the werewolf equivalent of your very own "Prince Charming", right? Not in Emilia Mathews' case. Her life as the beta's daughter was pretty good until four years ago, when tragedy struck and left her pack nearly in pieces...
The next afternoon, after ironing out the details of tonight, I rushed home to get ready.
I was currently sitting in a pile of my clothes, starting blankly at the wall. I had no idea what to wear.
I didn't usually go to high school parties because I was too afraid of upsetting my parents. Speaking of them, I hadn't seen either of them since last night, and I was glad they were so absent from my life right now. The only person I would have to worry about is Alex. I haven't told him about it because as the saying goes, it's easier to ask forgiveness later than permission now.
I stood up. I had to leave to meet up at Claire's in about half an hour and I needed to get on it if I wanted to go in anything other than a towel. I had already taken a shower and I was planning on doing only light make-up, so in a way I was almost done. Except for the fact that I had been at this stage of dressing for an hour now.
I went in my walk in closet and started digging into the corners for something that I forgot I had. I finally found something that might actually work. It was a pair of black shorts paired with a white tank top. I also pulled on my light-washed jean jacketed tucked in the tank top a little. I picked up the little black purse form where I left it earlier and throw my phone and some money, just in case.

I went into the bathroom attached to my room and started on my makeup. Thankfully my acne had cleared up about 2 years ago so I didn't need any concealer. I debated contouring my face but then decided agains it because honestly I am SO bad at that. I needed Claire if I had a standing chance at looking good.
I decided to go for some black mascara and eyeliner, along with some red lipstick. It added a pop of color to my outfit. I also lightly curled my hair and put it into a high ponytail to get it out of my face.
I went back to my room and looked around with a sigh. I guess it's time to clean up.

I was just finishing folding all my clothes when I got a text.
You're on your way, right?
It was from Claire. I glanced at the top of my phone were it said the time. I grimaced. I was supposed to leave 10 minuets ago. Oops..
I'm leaving now, I replied and slipped of my black and white adidas superstars.
I turned off the lights in my room and slowly shut the door. I crept down and stairs and cringed when I stepped on a creaky stair. I swiftly made my way to the back door and grabbed my keys off the hook. Outside, I gently turned the key, the lock clicking quietly.
That was almost too easy. I had told Alex I was turning in early tonight, so he though I was asleep. He wouldn't come in my room, and I knew he almost always had his earbuds in so sneaking past his room was pretty easy.
