Chapter 4

Thanks to this morning's talk with Aiden I hadn't time to prepare lunch for us so we have to wait in line for whatever's on the menu today. The food here isn't bad but not everything is to my liking. That's why I try to make sure we bring our lunch from home. The only thing that's always good here is the soup.

"Can this line be any longer? I'm starving!" I whine. I'm so not a happy camper at the moment.

"Come on, Em. There are only four people before us. You can almost grab your food, you cranky b..." Aiden stops when he sees me glaring at me. "Cranky big sis?" he tries to fix it.

"Yeah, nice try but I'm not..." I stop talking immediately when the food-lady says 'Next.' Aiden was standing before me but he moves out of the way so I can go first. It's seems I'm in luck today there's pasta carbonara on the menu or lasagne. That's an easy choice for me!

"I'll have the pasta carbonara, please." I don't like lasagne but I love pasta carbonara.

"Here you go, that's $ 5,80." The lady says handing me my plate I pay her and go to sit at our table. I don't even wait for Aiden I'm that hungry.

"Someone looks hungry." A teasing voice says from behind me. I turn around to see Lucas standing behind me.

"That's because I am." I say twirling some pasta on my spoon before shoving it in my mouth. Mmmm, food.

"Never come between my sister and food when she's hungry. It might be the end of you." Aiden 'whispers'. He thinks he's whispering but actually he's just talking. Lucas looks surprised by the fact my brothers talking to him. I just smile at the both of them. To Aiden my smile says 'thank you for trying' and to Lucas it says 'I told you he would try'.

"Am I the only one who finds this kind of awkward?" John asks not so subtle.

"No, you're not the only one but it will get better." I slap him lightly on the leg. "Now that's clear, move your ass so Lucas and Aiden can sit down." John was practically lying on top of three chairs.

"But I'm so comfortable!" John whines. I see Lucas starting to get to one of John's seats and just as he's about to yank one from underneath John he stops.

"Johnie, do you really want me to talk to you about how big boys act? Beside if you don't get up you're soon going to be on the ground. Your choice..." Lucas snorts at 'Johnie' who just realized that Lucas was about to rip a chair away from him.

"Not nice." John says to Lucas who just shrugs and says: "Don't be mad, Johnie."

"See what you did, Em? Now he's going to call me 'Johnie' too." John sighs. He isn't really bothered when I call him Johnie when I add little it's something different but I guess Lucas calling him Johnie is something different entirely.

"So Em and Johnie are there  more nicknames I'm not aware off?" Lucas asks his question directed at me.

"Well I gave all the guys nicknames except for Aiden because the only thing you could do with his name is shorten it to 'Aid' and that just reminds me of 'first Aid'." I've tried to come up with a nickname for Aiden but it's just so damn hard.

"So what are the nicknames?" Lucas rubs his temple as if it costs him a lot of effort not to snarl at me.

"Well, they are MY nicknames for them so I don't know if you're allowed to use them." I say remembering John's face when Lucas called him Johnie. "This is Alexander but I call him Alex." I introduce Alex first.

"It's cool if you call me Alex the rest of the guys call me so as well." Alex offers his hand to Lucas who shakes it. We all know who Lucas is but nobody really introduced themselves to Lucas before so I guess this is an opportunity do so now.
