"Well then," The Doctor said, "Let's be off!" He opened the squeaky blue door and went inside. Jack winked at me and followed suit. I stepped inside and swung the door shut behind me, still in awe of the massiveness hidden beneath a little blue box.
"Right then! Where do you want to go? And when?" The Doctor asked, breaking the silence. He flipped a few switches and pulled a lever, then looked up at me with his big, green eyes.
"Um, I'm not sure. I've never been anywhere but Earth and in present time," I replied.
"Present?" The Doctor snorted. "Why does everyone seem to think time moves linearly? It's more of a mish mash of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey... Stuff." Sometimes that man just didn't make any sense.
Jack only laughed, "I think what he's trying to say is that when you're a Time Lord, you can be whenever you want and time doesn't move the same way for you as it does for everyone else," he explained.
"Time Lord?"
"Oh dear," The Doctor began, "I never did tell you I was an alien, did I?" He chuckled to himself, but then looked up, face grave. His voice sounded eerie and commanding now. "I am The Doctor. I am a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborus. I'm here to save you and the millions of people on the planet belo-- wait wrong speech," His face lightened and he laughed at his own mistake. After righting himself, he stuck out his hand for me to shake. "I'm The Doctor, as you already know. I am Gallifreyan and have been given the title of Time Lord. I do hope you decide to go on adventures with me," he said, with a forced pleading look that made me laugh.
"Sure. It's nice to meet you, Doctor. Maddison Davis, at your service," I bowed playfully, earning a laugh from Jack, who was watching us the whole time. The twinkle in The Doctor's eye showed that he was amused, but he didn't laugh this time.
I pondered for a moment, and finally said, "I've always wanted to meet Leonardo DaVinci. When I was little I wanted to be an artist and he was my idol, but when I grew up, I started getting more into science, and he still is."
The Doctor smiled. "If that's where you wanna go," he said, "that's where we're going."
He punched in some coordinates on the control pad and pulled another lever, causing the tube in the middle to glow the same blue as his Sonic Screwdriver, and the TARDIS began its wailing. We were off.
