'I have to run to the market real quick.' Adele yelled as she was coming down from the stairs. 'Want me to go for you?' I asked, trying to hide my anger. 'I'm alright. Be back in a few minutes.' And with that she was gone. A part of me didn't believe her though, but I couldn't let her know that.

An hour had passed and she was just returning home. Angelo and I were upstairs in his playroom when I heard her voice. 'Babe? I'm home.' She called up. 'Upstairs.' I yelled back. I took a deep breath and waited patiently for her to make her way to us. 'Sorry I took so long.' She said as she walked in the room and sat on the floor. 'No problem.' I responded, trying to stay calm. 'Market busy?' I asked. She just shook her head but didn't respond. I got up and started to leave the room.

'Simon, can we talk about this?' Adele asked as she followed me to the kitchen. I opened up the refrigerator and grabbed a beer. 'About what? Nick?' Her face instantly turned red. 'I want us to work, but do you? Do you want this Adele? Because if you don't just say the word and I'm out.' I took a long gulp of my drink and then walked out to the garden to get some fresh air.

What if I was overreacting? What if Nick was just a friend and I was reading too much into it? But Adele didn't put up a fight. She didn't deny anything. I didn't know what to do but I knew I just needed to get out of the house for awhile.

'I'll be back tonight. I need to clear my head.' I said as I picked my keys up from the counter. 'Don't wait up.' I left before Adele could say anything. I didn't know where I wanted to go but before I realized what I was doing, I found myself in the parking lot of my usual bar.

'Hey, man. How's it going?' Jay greeted me as I walked in and took a seat. 'Beer and keep'em coming.' I said as I slid him my card. 'Rough night?' He asked. I just nodded and pulled out my phone to turn it off. 'Problems with my girlfriend.' I responded. Jay handed me my drink, 'I know how you feel. But you love her even if you're mad at her.'

A couple of hours went by and Jay and I had talked about our problems we were having. Him and his girlfriend were on and off for two years but could never fully move on from one another. Just as I was about to leave I saw Katie walk in. Deep down I knew that I shouldn't go talk to her but something was telling me I had too.

'Back again?' I asked as I walked up to her. 'Well, I knew you would be here.' She joked back. I took the seat next to her and we started talking about our day. Reluctantly I told her about Adele and I could tell that it made things complicated. But I liked talking to Katie, I liked being in her presence even if this was only the second day I had seen her.

'We can just be friends. There's nothing wrong with that. I would never betray my girlfriend and I know you would never want to be the other woman.' I told Katie when she said she felt guilty about even talking to me. 'Just friends.' She confirmed.

But it would soon become a lot more complicated than either of us thought.
