Chapter 6

Shinoa stared at the ID in her hands, it had been more than two weeks since the incident and it still gave her nightmares till the very day. She couldn't imagine what could have happened if she hadn't been saved, the trauma of her ordeal could possibly have driven her to suicide as she would be unable to bare it. She owed it a lot to the boys who saved her, especially the raven haired who risked his own life and fought a man twice his size.

"I didn't even give them a proper thank you." She sighed.
"Shinoa-sama?" A maid walked into Shinoa's room. "You're ready to go, the limo is waiting for you."

"Ah yes, I'm coming." Shinoa puts the ID into her bag and leaves.

In this day and age, there were things that Shinoa felt shouldn't exist - at least not in Japan- she couldn't find an excuse to why in such modern times a family will decide to live in the 18th century British tradition. The mansion was no problem but the numerous maids and butler roaming about the hallways attending hand and foot to the dwellers of the house irked her. To add to her irritation, this was the life she went through everyday.

"Shinoa-chan."

An older and taller female walked up to Shinoa.

"You ready for school?"

"Are you the one taking me big sister Mahiru?"

Mahiru nods. "I'm on my way to see Guren so I thought I'd drop you, besides I'm well aware of how much you dislike being taken to school in a limo."

"It's not normal." Shinoa frowned. "I get we're rich but it shouldn't mean that we have to flaunt it everywhere. We're only inviting kidnappers and robbers."

Mahiru laughed. "Shinoa, do you need a reminder of how many bad guys have been caught trying to rob us."

Thirty eight.

Shinoa could never forget because watching criminals break into her home was the only entertaining thing for her. Security cameras were put in every room and there were more than fifty rooms in the Hiiragi household.

The Hiiragis are a well accomplished conglomerate, the history of their corporation dates back to the 70's and since then they have grown very successful and are known nationwide.

Shinoa was the fourth child out of four children from two mothers and a single father. Although their wellbeing and lifestyle might be envious, their relationship to each other is not and that is something that Shinoa hated. Mahiru is Shinoa's older sister both from the same parents and although at times Mahiru acts like a loving big sister, their relationship is still very rocky. Mahiru being on a higher pedestal than Shinoa, is treated differently, well known and well loved she is seen as the pride and joy of the Hiiragi family, one day to run the family business.

Shinoa on the other hand was simply a speck compared to Mahiru's shadow. Showing lack of interest in her family business and fortune, her father Tenri Hiiragi refuses acknowledging her. She couldn't care less about it either ways.The other siblings were Kureto and Seishiro Hiiragi, brothers of different mothers. Kureto being the first male child is supposed to run the business after Tenri but instead it was Mahiru.

Tenri married Shinoa and Mahiru's mother at first but she couldn't bare him a child so he took in another wife who gave birth to Kureto. After Kureto's birth, Mahiru was born and Tenri favored Mahiru more for being the child of his first wife despite being a female.

Shinoa couldn't describe her relationship with her brothers, she didn't even know if she had a relationship with them.

To simply put it, life in the Hiiragi was frustrating.
