Kiley▶

I had just landed in Manila, Philippines and to say it was beautiful was an understatement. The people here were so nice and friendly. They welcomed me like this was my home.

I was on my way to my mothers house which was only a twenty minute drive from the airport. I really didn't know my way around here or the language. But my cousin Kerick (Care-rick) was with me. I haven't seen him since high school and to say these years past have been good to him.

He's very handsome.

I was looking out the cab window taking in the sights, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked over to see Kerick smiling. I smiled back.

"It's gorgeous here isn't it?"

"Yes. Very. I wish Dre could have been here to see it though." I sighed.

"I'm sure he would love it too. But maybe y'all could come back as a honeymoon getaway. Whenever y'all do get married." he chuckled. I smiled.

"Yea."

"I'm pretty sure she'll be happy to see you. You look just like her."

I smiled to myself. "I bet she's beautiful."

Once I felt the cab come to a stop, I knew we had reached our destination.

"Come." Kerick motioned, getting out of the cab. I followed behind him and got out.

I was met with a small house that looked to be a little worn. It had to have been here for years. But at least the flowers surrounding it made it look cozy. I looked over at Kerick who was waiting for me to follow him.

I walked beside him, following him up the pathway. The closer I got to the front door, the more my nerves started to kick in. I felt hot and my palms got sweaty. I felt like I was going to have a panic attack. I stopped in tracks and bit my lip nervously. Kerick stopped and turned around to look at me.

"You ok?" he asked concerned. I shook my head no.

"I don't think I can do this." I said, tears building up burning the back of my eyes. Kerick sighed and pulled me into a hug.

"Kiley. Your gonna have to face your fears and go in there. You want to get the chance to meet her while you still can right? Don't make this harder than what it needs to be."

Kerick was right. I knew I needed to go in there and suck it up. But this was a big deal to me. I don't do well with death and god forbid she dies while I'm here. I don't think I could handle it well. But it's now or never. I don't want to regret not being able to meet her because I'm too scared to.

"Fine. Your right." I sighed.

"I know I am." he chuckled. "Now come on." he said, pulling by my hand.

In just a few more steps we reached the front door. I felt a lump starting to form in my throat. All of a sudden my mouth felt dry. My heart was pounding and I bet Kerick could hear it.

"Ready?"

"Yea."

Kerick knocked on the door and waited patiently for it to open.
