Pippa's POV

I walk into the courtroom, dressed in fancy but modest clothes. It was simple really, just a long skirt, a blouse and a jacket. I wanted to look good since I was supposed to speak in front of the jury.

It was a surprise to me too, but they wanted a witness to when Lin had to defend me. And I'm a close friend and thought I should be there.

I take a seat next to Chris, who was sitting along with some other cast members.

"I'm so scared for him." Jasmine whispers to me. I agree with her. "Yeah. I don't think he would be able to stand it without Sebby."

There really wasn't many people there, just us and a couple of Vanessa and Lin's family members.

It all goes by fairly quickly. The judge obviously doesn't want to be there, only going over the law stuff I don't understand. I was worried for Lin. Vanessa was extremely intelligent and was a lawyer, so she knows what she's doing.

But that wasn't the only reason I was worried about him. He told me he was depressed and I suggested he go talk to someone that was actually qualified to help him. Being the stubborn Linnamon roll he his, he disagreed. I have been hanging out with him ever since, making sure he felt somewhat happy and included.

"Phillipa Soo please present yourself to the court." The judge announced, snapping me out of my thoughts. I nodded and walked up to the stand.

I swore on the Bible to tell the truth, all that I had to do before speaking.

"Is it true that Lin-Manuel Miranda shot a man?"

"Yes. In his defense, he was only defending me because..." I had to stop myself. I had suppressed the memory of that day, how scared I was, how violated I felt. "Because he was threatening my life. Lin did was he had to do." I said somberly.

I glance over at Lin, who was squeezing his eyes shut as if it pained him to hear the words. "And is it true that he cheated on Vanessa with you." I snarl at the words. "No," I hiss. "He was drunk and never said anything about loving me. He just complemented me thats all." I decide to leave out the story about us at the ice cream place. It's not technically lying if I just don't mention it.

The judge nods and continues to ask me some pointless questions. I walk off the podium and back into the seats. "You did fine." Renee says, anticipating my question of wether or not I did okay.

The court is dismissed and the judge disappears into a separate room. I walk over to Lin who was shaking in either anticipation or fear. "Lin, its going to be ok. Even if you don't get custody of Seb, it will be ok. You can make it." I encourage, hugging him in attempt to make him feel better.

I let him go and he gives me a small smile. "Ya' know, you always know what to tell me to make me feel better. Even if it was super cheezy." I giggle and we talk for a while.

The judge had told us to stay for a hour after the trial. Family cases usually take less time for the judge to decide. (I know that's probably not true but just go along with it ;))

After what feels like way to long, the judge comes out of the back room, ready to announce the verdict.

Ffffffffffff- sorry i took forever to update guys i just never really had the inspo until now. i know most of the law stuff in these chapters isn't true or even close to what happens but im not a lawyer so sorry. anyways thx for reading ily xoxo
