~ Your point of view ~
It was a late Wednesday night. The rain hit the hotel's windows with little taps before trailing down the glass, causing the outside environment to blur.
We had just finished a case earlier today, and Fred Turner is now being put on trial. A 38 year old American male who poisoned cakes at a bakery further in town. Luckily, L was able to contain himself.
I sat to the right of L, my head leaning on his shoulder. Two years ago, L would have found this uncomfortable, but over time he's gotten more used to it.
Unlike L, I long for social interaction. If L is the only person besides I can interact with besides Watari, then so be it.
We're currently inside a multi-bedroom, deluxe hotel room. One bedroom for Watari, and the other is for me and I. We've gotten to the point where we can get him to sleep in between cases, but during a case, the man has his eyes peeled.
"Why don't you go to sleep? The case is over so we'll start looking into others tomorrow." L asked awkwardly from where he sat, leaning against the headboard of the bed.
"I will when you go to sleep." I replied, moving closer to the man who still did not know how to best react to human touch.
"Why do you want me to sleep?" He asked, already knowing what the answer to this question would be.
"Because it is needed for your health," I sighed, feeling a sense of déjà vu as this argument has been repeated before.
"Last time I talked during my sleep." L rubbed his left eye with his hand, making the skin around his eyes turn pink. His eyes were already bloodshot.
"And?" I rolled my eyes.
"Fine, I'll enter into a state of unconsciousness if it will so please you." L responded, ungainly wrapping his arm around me and tapped his hand on my upper arm.
"Look at that, this is progress L." I jokingly smirked at him.
"Don't mock my attempts at being nice." His tone was flat as he stopped patting me, but his shoulders gave in and relaxed.
"I'm not mocking you." I straightened my face momentarily before it broke into another half smile.
"You are, and I don't understand why. This is what nine out of the ten articles I read earlier told me to do," He stated, his eyebrows furrowing slightly in confusion, "this must be reason why the percentage of them that said to do this was only 90%..."
"You read articles about how to act in this situation?" My voice cracked as I managed to keep my laughter inside.
"Perhaps I should have taken the 'Is she your girlfriend test' because maybe that's reason this didn't work out right." He stared at ceiling, thoughts circling behind his eyes.
"What?" I lifted my head up, trying not laugh at the words that were coming off of the mans' tongue.
L sighed softly, "Watari made a comment about a girlfriend he had when he was younger, and the way he talked about her reminded me of you."
I froze, my face turning slightly red at the way the conversation was going.
"My calculations of you being my 'girlfriend' was 89%, based on the other articles I have read. This is why we should not make assumptions, because I was wrong this time." He remained completely still, his eyes fixated on the plain white ceiling. His current emotion was hard to read, even more fuzzy than usual.
"L..." I shakily sighed and brought my hand to my face.
"You're wearing revealing clothes," he pointed to the shorts and tank I was wearing, "you were leaning against my shoulder, you share your sweets..." L began to list directly off of a site.
I wrapped my hands around him and buried my smile into his shirt, feeling his body tense as I mumbled, "Are you serious? Has the lack of sleep finally caught up with you?"
"If I wasn't, do you think I would let you do this right now?" L tried to relax, but he could not give entirely in. His arm remained hooked around my back and his breaths were short.
"You have no choice." I squeezed before letting the man go. The tension in his muscles instantly softened and he loosely let his arm hang around me.
We sat in a quiet silence. It was a long time before either of us would say anything. And when one did, he did so sleepy.
"Are you sure you're not my girlfriend?" L mumbled, his eyes shut and his head leaning back against the headboard.
I smiled and sat up, pushing the man into what looked like a more comfortable position. He stirred slightly, "hm?"
I paused and took a mildly deep breath, "Do you want me to be your girlfriend?"
"I don't think I would mind it, as long as..." he words began to slur, "my cake."
I couldn't help but silently laugh, "Then yes L, I will be you girlfriend." I leaned to my right and turn off the lamp.
"Y/n, you're my girlfriend..." He talked sleepily before snoring quietly. I kissed the man's forehead and sunk into the sheets as I watched him finally sleep.
"I guess I am."

"Did I say anything last night, y/n?" I heard a voice to my left and jumped up when I saw how close L's face was to mine.
"Good morning to you too," I rubbed my face with hands as my heart slowed down, "and yes."
"What did I say?" L asked, placing his thumb on his lip.
"Nothing," I responded nonchalant.
"Tell me, or I'll never sleep again." L's monotone voice threatened.
"Fine," I sighed, "boyfriend."
A loud clang from the doorway startled both L and I. Watari looked down at the now destroyed pastries on the ground, his body tense.
"Boyfriend?" L tilted his head to the side in confusion before his eyes grew wide.
***Author's Note:
So yeah this sucks, but I had part of it saved and tried my best to just fix what I what I already had.To those who haven't read my statuses, or to those who have:
Thank you all for your support. I am sorry I am not the best author, and I also am sorry that I haven't posted a one-shot in forever. I get stuck on ideas. Plus, for those who haven't read CITC by myself, I have a not-completed story that follows almost the exact dialogue from Death Note, that being said for a while I got sick of writing about Death Note. I am taking a break from CITC (I have plans to come back and finish it, being that I have the whole story planned out) but I will continue to do one-shots upon request. For a request, I need one of the character's names, and the basic idea of the short story. (Ex: L, his tired part mind tries to find out what y/n is to him) (Ex: Near, y/n's family is murdered and she find comfort in Near) or something like that.
Again, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has read this far. New reader, or old reader - Thank you so much for your support. I love you all. ♥️
