I finished this drama weeks ago but I didn't have time to write a review until now~~
Non-spoiler review:
Weightlifting Fairy: Kim Bok Joo is a feel-good drama. It's very light-hearted and veryyy enjoyable! I really really loved this drama. It's probably one of my all-time favourite. And I probably won't be able to move on from the characters for quite some time especially when I always see their videos on SNS. Haha
I love how it's really realistic when it comes to friendship and dating and also what a person in Bok Joo's age would go throughㅡlike doubting herself, thinking twice whether she really likes what she's been doing or not. I highly recommend this to everyone who hasn't watched this drama!!~~ Warning though XD It might make you feel like you want a boyfriend like Joon Hyung sooo bad (if you don't have one. lol)So now let's go to the spoiler parts!
Read at your own risk~Ahh! Where do I start? From the beginning to end, I loved this drama a lot. This drama is something like Shopping King Louieㅡjust makes you feel good and happy. Haha!
I'm gonna start with the time when Bok Joo still liked Joonhyung's brother. One of the things I liked about this drama is that, even when the main characters didn't like each other yetㅡit was still enjoyable!
I think I like what they didㅡlike, making Bok Joo fall for someone like Joonhyung's brother first because in reality, in my point of view (haha), I would not have a crush on someone like Joonhyung when I don't know him well and all he does when he sees me is annoy me and stuff even if he is that handsome. Lol. So I really liked how they developed the friendship between Bok Joo & Joon Hyung first!!
I also really liked the brother. I thought at first he also liked Bok Joo. Lol. But he's just plain nice. I've never seen anyone as nice as him in Korean dramas hahahaha
I liked how he cared a lot for Joon Hyung even when they're not real brothers. Ahhh. I just love their relationship! Especially when they've started opening up to each other.~~And guys!! I have to include this among the things that I loved about this dramaㅡJoonhyung fell for Bokjoo first! Yay!
YES, I am quite tired of girls falling for the boys first in Kdramasㅡso it was really really cute to have the boy catch feelings for the girl first.
I like how Bokjoo didn't really like him like that at first (that is also realistic) and she just fell for him eventually when he started showing her that he's a boyfriend material lol. Jk. Ughhhh~~ I swear I love them so much when they started dating! Omg. Joonhyung really knows what would drive a girl crazy. ASDFGHJKL even thinking about them now makes me feel excited. Hahahaha
I didn't think Joon Hyung had it in himself. XD But he was such a good boyfriend!! And their relationship is the real relationship goals!
I like it so much that they're always there for each other. I like how Joon Hyung liked her more at first and he just drove Bokjoo crazy hahahahaha
Girls, date someone who has Joon Hyung's personalityㅡwill make your bucketlist come true, will be there for you to support what you like to do, will warm your hand in his pocket (asdfghjkl), will sip coffee with you, will let you eat as much as you would love to, will buy you flowers, will respect your parentsㅡwill love the real you no matter how imperfect you are. That's probably another thing that I loved about this drama, that Bok Joo was clearly not a perfect character. She's a girl who doesn't have a perfect body, she eats a lot, she swears, she's loud, she didn't need many friends but has the real onesㅡit shows that girls can be like that and could still find someone who will love them like that, that they don't need to change anything or for anybody.
I also loved Bok Joo and her friends, and Joon Hyung and his friend. Those kind of friends are that best you could ever have. ㅠㅠ
I loved Nanhee and Sun Ok! I like how they're not the always-perfect-friends. There are things they didn't tell each other and they had misunderstandings and they fought and made up. You could really see their friendship development throughout the drama.Plus, Taekwon (Joonhyung's best friend) hahahah I love him so much! XD He made the show a lot more fun!
I like how he's all about pretty girls for the most of the drama and in the end, fell for a weightlifter as wellㅡwhich I already foresee when Sun Ok helped him escape the girls' dorm. Lol
I was like, ha! He will fall for her! XD
I wish they dated earlier and had more moments in the drama because I loved them. And the one I didn't talk about til now is Si HoㅡJoonhyung's ex girlfriend. Ok, I hated her because she was so pathetic but the director gave her so much character development so I forgive her. Hahaha
I hope she gets better and starts eating a lot~~ and I hope she finally dates that annoying guy who's prying on Joon Hyung's business. Also, I'd talk about Bokjoo's uncle hahaha and her coaches! Poor uncle. I knew it was one-sided, but I hoped the coach would like him back after everything that happened between them. Haha. I didn't like how inconsiderate the coach was to Bokjoo's uncle. Like, she knew he was there at that day to take care of the other coach and they just went ahead and confess their love for each other like, WTF? I liked that female coach's personality, but I just thought she was a bit inconsiderate towards Bokjoo's uncle which made me dislike her a little. Haha
Though Bokjoo's uncle got a new love life hahahaha at least, the woman likes her back and they're happy even though she swears a lot! XD
But I'm still not over how the male coach, like just few days ago in the drama, was on the phone talking with her wife and left to take care of herㅡhe called her HONEY and suddenly days later, he was holding the female coach's hand. I was confused. Lol. So he's divorced and that quickly too. But whateverㅡI still enjoyed the drama.
I guess I'm gonna end this review by saying that, I really felt hungry while watching this drama because they always ate. Lol
And I loved how Bokjoo and Joonhyung's relationship was, again realistic when she had to leave and they had to be separated for quite a long timeㅡthe doubt, the jealousy, the fights... those are what happens when you're in a long distance relationship. Aha. Not that I experienced it, but I saw enough in real life. XDAnd I just really adore them for holding on and staying strong, and graduating from college together.
Aaahhh this is such a long review but please understand that I really really loved this drama! It's seriously one of the best. <3
Whenever I miss the characters, I just randomly say tung~ aka chubs hahaha so cute ㅠㅠ
Also, I've become a fan of Lee Sung Kyung now! She's so amazing. She can model, act, sing so well! I don't usually become a fan of actresses in Kdramas but I really like this girl <3
And of course, NAM JOO HYUK! Woah. This is the character that suits him perfectly. I really really like his character here. Hahaha and his acting! He's now one of the actors I'll always watch a drama he would feature in.
Well, that's all! I have more to say but this is getting too long! XD
My next review would be Legend of the Blue Sea~
