I finally had time to finish this drama! I really watched it on time but lately I've been so busy that I got left behind and I just keep on seeing spoilers everywhere I go on SNS which sucks but exciting at the same time.
NON-SPOILER REVIEW:
I. LOVED. THIS. DRAMA.
Like what everyone else is saying, I have to agree that the cinematography, the casts and the plot are just amazingㅡplus the OSTs are all on my Most Played List of songs! This drama made me laugh and cry so much. For a moment, it's so light-heartedㅡit can make you so happy then it jumps to the dark, tragic part which could make you so sad and emotional.
I loved the charactersㅡJi Eun Tak is probably my recent favourite kdrama girl! I loved her personality. Kim Go Eun's acting is so on point. She's just amazing. Ok.
Kim Shin and Grim Reaper's bromance is something to look forward to if you haven't watched this drama. I just love them, even more with Deokhwa. I'm going to miss them all so much. ㅠㅠ
I can't even say more without spoiling it so Imma end it with this: I recommend it to everyone! I know there are many people who loved this drama as much as I did, but there are also the ones who didn'tㅡso I want you to see for yourself. (:
WARNING: SPOILERS COMING!!!
Oh. My. Goblin.
As I said above, I really loved this drama and everything about it. To be honest, when I heard of the casts, I already expected it to hit big time on ratingsㅡbut I didn't think it would be THAT popular both in Korea and all around the world.
Most of all, I didn't even imagine it would beat Reply 1988's ratings! :O
Goblin. By hearing its title and when I watched the first episode, where Kim Shin was dressed in a Goryeo outfit, battling with enemiesㅡI thought this drama will be some dark, serious piece of work. I expected it to be like that. Boy I was wrooong!
Well, kinda.
I actually couldn't believe at first how funny it was and how light it felt like while watching it. The trio (Kim Shin, grim reaper and Deokhwa) are so funny. I totally loved it whenever they're on screen. I mean, mostly it is Kim Shin and Grim Reaper but when Deokhwa is added to the pictureㅡI just. cannot. I just can't hold back my laugh even when I'm outside.
The characters in this drama are so loveable. From Kim Shin, to Grim Reaper to Ji Eun Tak, to Deokhwa to Sunny, to the ghosts, to the gorgeous god of childrenㅡeveryone except Park Joong Won and Euntak's relatives lol.
I really loved Eun Tak because she was so funny and just so direct but at the same time you could see how much she caresㅡI never once was annoyed by her personality which is pretty rare whenever I watch a kdrama. Lol. Most of the time, the leading girl annoys me but this time, I just fell in love with Ji Eun Tak. Kim Go Eun is, again, so amazing in portraying this character. I haven't watched her before in Cheese In The Trap but I could tell that she really did a great job in this drama.
I'm so freakin' in love with the way Kim Shin and Eun Tak look at each other. /cries/ CAN U SEE THE LOVE? XD How could they make it seem so real?
Especially when Eun Tak started to remember Kim Shin againㅡI just. caannooootttt. Their kissing scenes are just ksbdkandka they killed me but I survived.
The theories in this drama drove me crazyㅡlike 'the grim reaper is the king' and 'deokhwa is a god'. About the grim reaper, I already had a strong feeling that he was the king BUT I was seriously confused about Deokhwa. Like, dud, you can't be a god because you were a servant in your past life. Lol. Turns out I was right! XD
Anyways, let's talk about Kim Woo Bin aka Wang Yeo and Sunny aka Sunhee aka Kim Sun. You know, I loved Eun Tak & Kim Shinㅡbut to be honest, I really loved Grim Reaper and Sunny more! HOW CAN I NOTㅡthey're the most precious!!
I just can't explain all the feels I get whenever those two are on screen. They made me so happy and sad. ㅜ.ㅜ
Most of my tears for this drama are because of them.I'm also in love with their past even though Wang Yeo became crazy. ㅜㅜ
(let me just say this though: kim so hyun, that kiddo is so pretty! i think i have a girl crush on her lol)
I loved how they said 'I miss you' everytime they meet. asdffghjkl it was so adorable!!!! my goodness.I was so so heartbroken when Sunny decided to stay away from him. I just wanted them to be together so bad. And I know they gave us a happy ending but I still craved for more of them. ㅜㅜ
Plus, I just remembered the names Wang Yeo & Eun Tak mentioned: Kim Woo Bin, Kim Hyun Bin & Park Bo Gum. Lol #dead XD
~
And then there's Eun Tak & Kim Shin who are also so so adorable. I laughed so hard when they watched Train To Busan at the cinema. Hahaha those poor popcorns that were spilled...
I just felt so bad for Kim Shin when Eun Tak died and he had to wait for her for so MANY years. I mean, we all knew Euntak is coming backㅡbut how lonely must he had been during those times without her, Sunny, the grim reaper, or even Deokhwa. ㅜ.ㅜ
Again, I loved this drama but the ending left me wanting moreㅡit may be lacking in some ways or I just can't really get enough of it. It was happy and all but I don't know, I was just really waiting for something more.
Anyways, trying to remember them all now seems like SO many things really happened in this drama in sixteen episodes.
I don't know if I gave a good review. I just have mixed thoughts right now about this drama and I don't know where to position things that I loved the most. Butㅡall in all, I highly recommend it to everyone!! You'll surely fall in love with the characters and enjoy it a lot!
