Remus smiled widely when he saw the shift in Katelyn's sleeping patterns. She was awake now. And it was proven when she poked her head out of the blanket and looked at him. She climbed out of the bed and walked over to him.
"Good morning, little elf." he replied, in answer to her greeting. She held out her arms, much like she had done when she was a baby and every day since then, and Remus reached down to pick his daughter up. She was light enough not to cause too much of an effort for Remus, but heavy enough for a nine-year-old healthy girl.
Remus kept his arms around Katelyn all the time she was on his lap and smiled at her. "How did you sleep, princess?" he asked, hugging Katelyn to him happily. She really was his ray of sunshine.
