Today as I finished my grilled cheese for lunch and going through college stuff Jack walked in for lunch. As soon as he walked in and saw me he smiled. Today he wore a cutoff t-shirt with torn up work jeans. His hair was a mess but he still looked hotter than ever. I wore a pair of short jean shorts and a tye-tank top with the word dream in pink glitter. My hair was left down, natural and my face had no make-up on. I smiled back at him as he took a chip off my plate. “Thanks.” he said as he came up behind me to see what I was looking through. “Your welcome. Hungry? I can make another sandwich if you want one.” I said looking into his eyes. “Nah, I just wanted something small. I’ve got more work to do anyway. Is this your college acceptance letters? If so, you’ve got like 20 here....wow.” he said coming closer to my shoulder looking at all of them. I just giggled and said, “Yeah, I didn’t think I was that popular.” He smiled and said, “I’m not surprised. You wanna go see a movie with me later?” I just stared at him, was he really asking me out on a date? Jack, hot Jack was asking me out on a date with him...wow. “Um...let’s see, as long as I have all my chores done I’d be happy to.” He smiled and said, “Great, and don’t worry about your chores, I got them. By the way, I feel really bad about Reese. She was a great horse and a beauty.” “Thanks, and don’t forget about the movie.” “You know I won’t, sunshine.” he said walking out the door. When he was gone I blew out a breath and smiled to myself.

Just like Jack said we would, he did my chores by 6 o’clock. I stayed in my outfit but put some eye liner and mascara on. I was in my room watching the TV show Heartland when my phone buzzed. I opened the text up and it read, I’m sorry if I hurt you and I do think we need to take a break but I’m not giving up on you. I want my stuff back soon though. Love you Des. I put my phone down and sighed. I laid back on my bed when I heard someone laugh. I looked over at the door and saw Jack. He cleaned up and wore clean jeans with a Hollister shirt and he had a jacket folded over one of his arms. I smiled and looked down and got up off my bed. He came into my room and shut the TV off for me. “Thanks.” I said grabbing my jacket. “No problem, Des. I can call you Des, right?” he said motioning for me to lead the way out of my room. “Yeah, everyone calls me that, it doesn’t have to be any different for you.” I said smiling as we went out the door and into the humid starry night. He smiled and nodded toward his truck. I got in the passenger side and he started up the truck.

“So what movie are we seeing?” I asked turning up the music a little bit. “I have no idea, I just wanted to take you out somewhere. We don’t have to see a movie. We can do something else if you want.” said Jack looking at me with a serious face. I stared back at him. “Well, I heard the rodeo is having an opening show tonight. We could go to that, if you want.” “Yeah, sure. I love rodeos. My dad was in the rodeo when I was younger. He’s the one who taught me to ride a horse.” “Oh, wow, cool. Yeah, my dad’s family has always had the same ranch and my dad was the only boy within his siblings so he got the horse ranch. That’s how I learned to ride anyway, my dad tells me that the day I was born I was a cowgirl because when my mom’s water broke she was riding a horse.” Jack laughed and turned up the radio a little bit. It was a song I didn’t recognize but the singer was good. I felt a little out of place because Jack explained to me that this song was two years old and he hadn’t hear it in a while. I just smiled as we pulled into the lot full of cars at the rodeo.

He got out and he said, “Nope, I’ll get your door. It’s our first date and I refuse to let the girl open her own door.” I smiled as he opened my door and took my hand helping me out. “Thanks.” “You got it, Sunshine.” We walked in the way of the ticket booth and he paid for our tickets. We found some seats and I looked at the arena. It had a pretty white horse and a young girl was riding her. They looked good together. “Oh my gosh! Desiree?” I head someone say behind me. I turned around and Jack did too. There was a long blonde curly haired, pale, tall, girl. I had no idea who she was and how she knew me. Maybe from school, I thought. She was holding a dark haired tall, not too good looking, guy’s hand. “Um...Hi?” I said looking confused. “I’m sorry. I heard about your accident and about Reese. I know you probably don’t know who I am but I’m Tessa. We graduated together and we were like really good friends.” she said looking at Jack. She stared at him and I made her stop by saying, “Oh, well nice to meet you. Well, I guess, nice to see you again.” She hugged me kinda of sloppy and she asked, “So, who’s this lucky guy?” “This is Jack.” I said. He put his arm around my waist and he said, “I just moved here. My grandparents used to own land around here and I thought it might be a good idea to come back and check it out. And I work at Desiree’s ranch.” “Oh cool, this is Peter. Desiree, he graduated with us too.” said Tessa smiling and Peter looked at me and nodded. Over the intercom a speaker said something really loud. “Well, nice to run into you. Maybe we can catch up some other time?” I said sitting down. Tessa nodded and blew me a kiss and then waving goodbye.

“She seems nice.” said Jack. “Yeah, I guess. I just feel so bad because I had no idea who she was and according to her we seemed to be pretty close.” I said taking a drink of the water bottle Jack had in his hand. “You probably don’t feel as bad as me...” he said looking down. “What do you mean?” I asked. “Well...” he was hesitating, debating whether to tell me or not, “Just never mind.” “Okay, and I’m sorry for taking your water bottle.” “Oh, no. It’s ok, it’s not a big deal.” he said pulling me in closer to him. I smiled as the rodeo started. Once it was over it was around 8:30. We were laughing all the way to where we parked, there was a comedian there to close the rodeo and he had a really funny joke that both of us just couldn’t stop laughing about. I guess I didn’t really realize it but we held hands all the way back to the truck. We got in and I sighed. He looked over at me, “You know. I thought that one guy was pointing at me when he picked someone from the audience. I’m so glad it wasn’t me.” “Eh, you would’ve been good at reciting a story from the so called 1800’s.” I said laughing. He started the truck and said, “You up for ice cream?” “I’m always up for ice cream.”

When we got to DQ he ordered our stuff and we sat at one of the tables outside. I was eating my cookie dough blizzard when I heard Jack say, “Shit!” I laughed and as I did my ice cream got on and up my nose, which made me laugh even more. “What’s wrong?” I said, trying to stop laughing. “I dropped it in my lap.” he said trying to get it all off. I got up and looked. It was all over his lap. “Well, you’ll get cooled off down there for sure now.” I said sarcastically getting napkins for him. I handed them to him and he wiped it all off. I almost forgot I had some on my face because he wiped it off for me. “I only have like two spoonfulls left.” he said. I was getting another scoop of mine when he dumped the rest of his in my face. I gasped, feeling the cold. “Oh, now you’re gonna get it.” I said standing up. He got up too and walked away from me. I threw mine in his face too and we laughed and laughed. He took some off from his face and threw it back at me. I did the same until I couldn’t stay standing from laughing so much. He came closer to me and kinda picked me up since I practically almost fell to the ground. “Des, you’re somethin’ ya know?” he said facing me. I just looked at him with his ice cream filled face and I realized no, he’s really something. He stilled looked incredibly hot with all the ice cream. Coming closer to him and putting my arms around his neck I said, “No, you are.” He leaned down to kiss me and I just let it all go. My mom, the accident, my memory loss, Reese, and most of all I let go of Eric. I smiled once he let go and I said, “Wanna get this all cleaned off?” “Only if you can beat me to the truck.” he said already getting a head start. I ran to the truck and shoved him out of the way. “I’m coming for you Des!” he said running straight at me. I screamed as he picked me up and carried me the rest of the way to the truck. He set me down and I got into the truck.

When we got home it was around 10 o’clock. “So, I was thinking if you want to you can shower here and then we can watch a late movie since we didn’t really go to the movies like planned.” I said opening up the door, “and dad is out of town so you can stay as late as you want.” Jack smiled and said, “Well, that would be great but I don’t think he’ll be very happy to see me here in the morning with you.” “You have to be here early anyway and he won’t be back until later in the afternoon. Please, I don’t want to be alone tonight.” I said coming closer to him. He closed the door behind him and came up to me cupping his hands around my cheeks. “You won’t be alone.” he said kissing me. His lips still tasted like sunshine. I think my lips were trembling from his touch and his warm kisses. I kissed him back passionately. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I ran my fingers through his hair. His hands moved to my butt and I could feel my want for him. He greeted my lips again and I don’t think I’d ever felt something so real.

For the first time since I lost my memory, I actually felt my age. It was like there was some instinct in me that I already knew. We moved to the living room and I threw Jack on the couch. I climbed on top of him, facing him, and kissed him. I grabbed his shirt and pulled him even closer to me. I tugged on it, he took it off. I felt around his chest and his sleek abs were like nothing I’d ever felt before. He took off my tank top and I leaned in closer to him letting him see my breasts closer. He pushed me off of him and he got up too. He pulled me into him and I kissed him again. He unzipped my shorts and I took them off. I unzipped his jeans and he took them off as well. He picked me up off the floor and I wrapped my legs around him. He ran his fingers through my hair and I thought for a moment we lost balance but he was walking, heading toward my bedroom. He laid me down on my bed and I leaned forward meeting his lips once again. With every kiss, I swear I fell in love with him even more.
