Spring is Around the Corner - February 24, 2017

Hello Everyone,

I want to start off with an important announcement.  I am sure you have noticed the absence of our Founder BillTemple1957 . He has been very ill, and I would like to ask everyone to stop by his page and let him know we are thinking of him and hope that he will be better soon.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Poem-A-Day:

We have opened up the Pub's Poem-A-Day Collection to everyone, even if you are not participating in the challenge.  Anyone can send in one poem a week to be added to this collection. 

We still have several people who are participating.  If you search #PPpoem-a-day you can see who they are and support them in their efforts.  Also if anyone wants to join you can start at any time.  Just send us a private message and let us know you want to participate, use the hashtag #PPpoem-a-day on your collection.  We also have a participation sticker, just private message me and I will get you the link.

April 2017 Contest:

I announced last week that we are looking for your suggestions for our April competition, so far I have only received one.  Let's step it up Pubbers, I am truly excited to hear your ideas.  You only have one week to get your suggestions in.  You can leave them in the comments or send them to me by private message.

NEW BUSINESS:

March 2017 Contest:

Our March contest will be announced next Wednesday on March 1st.  I believe this one will be a bit of a challenge for everyone.

New Project - Poets Pub Writer's Handbook:

We are going to be rolling out a new project, Poets Pub Writer's Handbook.  This book will include articles from a select few Pubbers, who have been gracious enough to share their knowledge of the art of crafting poetry.  We hope to be adding a new article each week, pertaining to "how to write poetry".  The articles will include the basics of writing poetry, different styles of poetry and suggestions to kick up your poetry writing game.  If you have specific questions about the art of poetry craft, be sure to leave them in the comments or send them by private message and we will do our best to get one of our writers to get it answered in an article.

Our first article will be by CottonJones and it is on the basics of writing poetry.  I hope you will find this new venture informative and entertaining.  Look for it to come out early next week.

MYNA'S MUSINGS:

In my part of the world, southwest USA, spring is already trying to make an appearance; warmer days, the trees are trying to bud out, and hay fever (yuck)!  Spring brings with it a sense of renewal and life, flowers popping up, little baby critters bounding and children pestering to go out and play.  It may be a bit early but I thought some springtime poetry might be in order, so here are your prompts for the week.

PROMPTS:

#1 - Write a spring poem and include the words - flower(s), rain, playground, renew and butterfly.

#2 - Write a spring Haiku - (syllable count is 5-7-5)

Remember that any poems you write off of these prompts can be submitted for our Pub Chatter Prompt collection.
