Greetings Pubbers!!
Welcome to the first edition of the new Pub Chatter!!
Your Mystres of Chatter here, checking in to make sure you all, have had a fabulous week!!
Pull up a chair and have a drink, on the house of course, and let me chat with ya awhile!
I officially call this meeting of the Pub Chatter to order:ANNOUNCEMENTS –
First of all, we are in the final countdown to finding out whom the winners are for The Biggest Competition Ever. We have had such a great turn out for this competition!! Three cheers to everyone, who has shared their awesome poetry with us! This next week our talented judges will start the almost impossible job of deciding our winners; as such we will not be accepting anymore entries. Good Luck everyone who entered, we will have a list of the winners posted as soon as we can!
OLD BUSINESS –
The next item up for discussion is our Christmas collection "A Pub Christmas". When you get a moment take a gander at the poems in this holiday filled book of all things Christmas. While you peruse the tinsel tinted pages, let it inspire you to write a new holiday classic to add to our Christmas collection! We would love to have a new entry from each and every one of you.
While we are on the subject of Christmas, the Pub would like to issue a fun new challenge! We all know and love the Christmas classic "The Twelve Days of Christmas", we would love to hear your own version of this beloved holiday staple. Bring it on Pubbers let's see what ya got!!NEW BUSINESS –
On to new business. Every week I would like to highlight a different published work from the Pub Library.
This week I would love for all of you to check out:
"Poets Pub Family Treasures"
This is one of the Pubs older collections and contains poems about our Pub family and why we are so grateful to have this special place as well as each other. So I want to encourage you to spend some time reading it (there are plenty of copies to go around), then compose a piece to add to this treasure trove of family memories. We want to know what the Pub means to you. Oh! I have updated the cover, I hope you all approve.
I think that does it for new business; however I do have one more thing to talk about.
I know it's not a popular subject but I think we need to have a "serious" discussion about the dreaded ailment "writer's block"... we all suffer from it, from time to time; I want you to know you're not alone. We here at the Pub like to take a holistic approach to this awful malady. First, do some deep breathing exercises, in 1,2,3, out 1,2,3. Second, put on some music to get those creative juices flowing and then apply one of our all natural, totally organic poetry prompts. Each week your lovely Mystres of Chatter will have a fresh batch of prompts for you to choose from. Also, I would absolutely love to hear any that you come across and want to share with the family. PM them to me and I will get them posted here.
This week's prompts are:
1. Write a poem about a virtual treasure box, putting things in it that you, can only or have only, dreamed about; a rock from Mars, a lock of hair from bigfoot, or a photo take from the bottom of the ocean. Let your imagination run wild!!
2. Write a poem about snow, without using the words; white, cold, flakes, winter, frigid, or snow.
As always, any poem you would like to share should be submitted as Private Message to Poets Pub. If you are new to the Pub please refer to "Behind the Bar" for the Pub rules and regulations as well as everything you need to know about submitting your work to the Pub.
Well that's about it for this week's meeting. Please hang around for as long as you like, chat, introduce yourself to any of the new members and catch up with those who have been around for a while. Of course the drinks are always on the house!!
Meeting adjourned!
CHEERS EVERYONE!!
Happy Writing!
