No one says a word while we travel 400kph in a Colorado luge fighter. I'm getting sick as we dodge the good of trees. We see our destination in the distance. I'm on weapons set A, Tara on weapons set B and a new girl that has an uncanny weapons knowledge named Danielle is on set C. Flynn has all the dials and Dorian is in front steering.
"50 kilometers and closing. Pause in communication "20. 10. 5. Ok, begin to go straight up. 4, 2, 1! Woo! Ok, new altitude says we are 2 meters. In a 91 degree straight up now it says south. East. North. Ok, we are going so straight up that it doesn't know."
Danielle sees a black circle and hits the machine gun hitting it. Flynn slows down to 100kph for stability. We take out 5 more of the lowest cameras. And we see things appear on the radar. Flynn on the intercom, "B squad are you ready?"
"Already running up the building, these spikes for the feet and curved blades for the hands were a great idea!"
I see on my rearview camera that they are doing pretty good, climbing up at 20kph. I tell them "B squad tells C squad when to start."
We get up to the 3rd section of the fortress. Windows appear and I can see the majesty of the different power plants and sewage treatment plant. It looks dark and dirty but at the same time, incredible.
Above that is one large window and it's a very bright light emitting from it. The windows are shaking as we are gliding by so close. I can see confused farm workers looking around for the source of the sound.
Flynn asks, "I'm getting solar radiation. Is that right?"
A woman's voice, "ok C squad, you're up."
"Yes, Flynn that's right Flynn. That's the farm, where the crops after grown cows are raised and objective for squad D about 2 floors above the farm is the prison."
"Someone said Squad D"
"Hold off squad D. They will tell you when to go.
We get higher up and the windows aren't common anymore. The radar flashes and Flynn shouts, " we have enemy fighters! "
Dorian, "ok Danielle, your job is to take out missiles in your own special way!"
"Alright, they are sending out jaguar xl9's very aerodynamic weak with hairpin turns. Usually, has M493 cruise missiles attached get me besides a middle and I can take it out or direct it."
"Direct it? What kind of fantasy is this?"
"Do it and I'll show you."
We head right for them and Tara fires her missiles at them. And they hover and shoot them out. Then they turn towards each other and it looks like they are going to hit each other and they all miss and take 5 different directions.
Dorian again, "they didn't send warriors or low rank these guys have had years of practice. Does anyone on any squad have ideas?"
"Squad D cleared to go"
"Hey, Dorian. I have an idea."
"I'm in C squad if you can get them here we can shoot them up or jump on them."
"They are streamlined you won't be able to hold on"
"And slippery just like the building, right?"
"I see where you're going with this."
"We are in the shade, everyone turns their mech black and gray, then jump on them. They are on chains in case you feel, remember that."
I see the last one change to where I can't see them. "Ok Dorian, we're ready."
"Ok"
The engines go down to the bare minimum. And we stall and I watch the ground coming into my view. B squad not moving except that they point their weapons up.
Approaching C squad and I am Dorian, "will we have enough time to turn around as well as pull up? We only have 750 meters and we are still stalled and backward."
Dorian says, "of course I will I'm awesome."
Danielle, "Tara, your man is sexy but he is stupid." As she is still firing everything weapon wise she could. "I'm trying to dump the weight so we might not crash as hard" I look in my rearview camera and watch the enemy in pursuit of us dodging the rounds and missiles with ease. "Reload times are too high, I can't do it!"
Dorian turns the engine back on and we all get to watch as four of the five planes get captured by C squad. But their planes agent slowing down they have sped up and begun twirling.
I see a singularity of heat grow and grow to the circumstance of the plane we are in and we have not slowed down enough.
"Damn it, Dorian, you suck!"
We four get booted out of our virtual reality pods. And Dorian says, "mission fail, virtual machines off."
The lights turn on
And the other pods light up and begin to open up.
"What's the big deal? We had just taken down those planes and squad D were approaching their objective."
"Without me the war is pointless. If I die the mission is a failure."
"Then shouldn't you stay on base and we go?"
"A leader doesn't command anything that he wouldn't do. A boss demands you to do things that he doesn't want to. A war monger hides behind children and makes them fight. I want to be a leader so I will be in front."
We start to go to the big screen and get it all loaded to review everything we did as a group. And a nurse comes in, "Dorian!"
"Yes, nurse."
"Your daughter woke up."
"Flynn take over the debriefing"
