"Hi Jaymes, how are you sweetheart?" Lisa replied, busy typing
She had grayish-brown hair that I often saw her pull into a bun, she had light wrinkles and crow's feet under her eyes, her skin was fair colored and she always smelled of delicious vanilla. Tonight she wore a long white pleaded skirt, a long sleeved cardigan over a yellow, daisy patterned blouse and white flats. They suited her well.
"I'm okay, ma'am. Do you have a ride home?" I asked her.
"How many times do I have to tell you to call me, Lisa?" she said, still typing. "Is this your eleventh day?"
I nodded.
"And I've told you many times to call me Lisa" she smiled, looking at me
I smiled back, "Okay, Lisa. What do you want me to do?"
She turned back to the computer and resumed typing "Aisle C needs to be arranged, sweetie. I'm sorry for dumping all the trouble on you"
I clipped my ID on and adjusted my eyeglasses on my nose bridge. Not that I needed glasses, the ones I wore were free of prescription. I just thought they complimented the 'librarian look'
"It's not a problem, Lisa" I told her, "Thanks for understanding my School schedule."
"School is a must, sweetie. I'm glad you and Charlie are helping me with the library. After I retire, Charlie's going to take over and I know this place will be well-taken cared of with her" she said
I nodded, understanding. Charlie also had radio casting part-time. She enjoyed what she did and she was pleased with her life. She had light blue eyes and blondish-brown curls. She had curves in the right places and she was very beautiful. Sometimes, I envied her. Maybe if people knew she was running the place, more people would come just to see her.
"Wow, boss Charlie"
Lisa Chuckled "Yeah. She can be strict though. Trust me, I know"
The library doors opened and a familiar figure stood in front of us.
Lisa's husband; Lance. He had graying hair and cool brown eyes. He was perfect for her. He was respectful and whenever he looked at Lisa, I saw love in his eyes. Love for her.
"Hello, Jaymes" he greeted me, a complete gentleman. I smiled back, he turned his attention to who looked as if his own life, "Lisa, darling, you ready to go?"
"One moment, darling" Lisa replied, flashing him a loving smile.
"I'll go fix Aisle C, Lisa" I told her
"Thank you, Jaymes" she replied
After a smile at them, I walked toward the aisles. A few students were in the library, doing their own thing. Reading while standing, sitting or on the library computer. Some of them might've been from Flathead High, a few seemed familiar but I didn't know any of their names. I proceeded to aisle C and started fixing up the shelves.
One thick black book caught my attention. It was open on a blank page.
I looked down at it from my standing position. Slowly, i bent down and turned it over. It had a circular gold lock right in front of it. the front and back and sides had no title and no library number or any mark on it whatsoever. With a confused frown, I closed it and pushed it into an empty space. Maybe Lisa forgot to number it. It could get really busy in the library sometimes.
