Chapter Song: All Fall Down by OneRepublic
Even though they'd arrived to Bella's house an hour later than she usually did when she walked, Charlie still wasn't back from work.
This left them completely alone. Something that seemed to set Edward on edge. It was quite funny to see him so unsure.
She pointed upstairs with a question in her eyes.
Edward swallowed, pulling at his collar. "I'm not sure..."
She shrugged, walking up the stairs and turning when she was halfway up with an extended hand.
He looked at her hand then her eyes before following.
She smiled as their hands clasped. He tried to smile back but couldn't manage to pull it off fully. She could feel his pulse jumping in his palm and found courage in his nervousness.
Opening her door she moved aside for him to go in first.
Watching her, he stepped in carefully. Turning, he took in the small room with keen eyes. Suddenly she regretted bringing him here. No one, besides her uncle, had seen it. This exchange was much more...revealing than she'd realized. She was presenting herself to him. This was her room. True, it had only been for a year, but it was still hers. She hadn't felt like anything was hers for a long time.
Turning back to her, he smiled. "Powerpuff Girls?" He teased with a cocked brow at a Buttercup doll sitting against the pillows.
She frowned, poking him in the side roughly.
He bellowed a laugh as he curled her against his chest.
She rested her cheek there contently as he rubbed her arms up and down.
Their embrace turned heated quickly. The air around them shifted in the blink of an eye. Bella could barely catch her breath with how swift the change was. She looked up into his eyes as his warm breath fanned over her face. Her eyes fell to his lips as she licked her own. Edward's eyes zeroed in on the movement.
His face inched closer and closer and she couldn't bring herself to close her eyes. They were too engrossed in his. So much need and worry were packed into them. Right when his lips were about to touch hers, he paused; leaving them suspended in sweet suspense.
She absently wondered if it would always be like this. So new. So exciting. So everything. Would her ribs always feel like a bird was trying to escape from them? Would her skin always tingle with every minute touch he granted? Would her legs always feel suddenly bone deprived? Would his soft, delicious lips always be what she craved over anything else?
She was reverted from thinking about anything as his lips whispered over hers. Her eyes fluttered shut as she grabbed his shirt. She strained to get closer but he was much taller than her and could easily evade.
Her eyes snapped open, frowning.
He was watching her, equally amused and serious.
She started to pull back, not in the mood to pout this time.
He held fast, stroking her face with the back of his fingers. "You're too much." With the look on his face, Bella knew what he'd just said was something meant only for his head.
She showed her plain confusion as she leaned her face against his now open palm.
"I mean...you're too perfect to be true."
Bella shook her head, kissing his palm softly.
His eyes closed for a moment, before he looked at her. "How could you think you're not?"
