Recap:
"Your sister just took my mentor and my father! Do you know how that feels!" I heard Robin yelling.

"Robin calm down I'm sure that she didn't know-" Kaldur tried to reason but Robin cut him off. "But she did. She knew and she let Bruce die anyway." Robin fumed. "Robin! Lis-" by then I stopped listening and went to my window. They don't understand. I was a mistake. Always have been always will be.
I took one last glance at my room and jumped out the window. I needed to escape.
------
I inhaled the dark midnight air and felt it caress my bare hands. The scars there only just healed. I turned around on an empty street to find the local Gotham news on in a store. I ducked in and listened to what the reporter said.

"Superman and Martian Manhunter are issuing a reward for the capture of one Vertis'ahm sister of Aqualad. They say- Superman's face came up in the screen. "We are unsure of Vertis's motives at the moment which means that she's dangerous." The news coverage stated. "In other news Batman, Gotham's mysterious vigilante has gone missing. Leaving no trace of were he has gone. Here is-" I left the store soon after that.

I walked aimlessly around the dark park drowned in thought. My mind kept replaying Batman's death. How he pushed me out of the way. How the grass felt beneath my arm as I screamed in anguish and stared at the spot where Bruce had been just a second ago. How Robin had grabbed my forearm and ran when I just wanted to be left behind.

We didn't even have a body to bury. I held in my tears and sat down on a park bench. "Penny for your thoughts?" A sinister voice asked. I snarled ferociously and sprung up into a fighting position. "Joker." I spat with a so much hate, a Sith Lord would be jealous.

"Vertis dear. Why so serious?" He cackled. "Go. To. HELL!" I screeched at him in fury. It was all his fault that Batman was dead. His fault that I was on the run. His fault that I felt so empty inside.

"Oh you've got to be joking! I thought we had a real connection, since I took Atlantis away from you." The Joker laughed. I growled menacingly but stood my ground. "What do you want with me. You've already taken everything!" I shouted into the cold air. Citizens started panicking when they noticed the Joker.

"I want to finish what I started. The fun is never over you know. There will always be new heroes to pick off one... by... one." The Joker said pausing. He cackled again and I soon realized that I was surrounded. "The fight is never over either." I said and began attacking the Joker goons. "Bring the boy wonder to me or these innocents dies!" Joker demanded, holding a bomb. I hesitated.

"Ohhh joy, hit a soft spot aye. So what's it gonna be. The lives of many or one." The insane man giggled and pressed down the detonator. "Too late." The bomb was set to two minutes. He threw it at an apartment complex and then made his escape. I leaped towards the bomb and began disassembling it. I looked at the time and saw 00:23 seconds left.

00:15 seconds.

00:8 seconds.

00:03 seconds. I pulled a wire and it stopped the countdown. The numbers began flashing and my eyes widened. "EVERYONE GET DO-" my warning was cut off. I raised my vibranium arm to keep debris away from my face as it blew up right in front of me. I faintly heard screams as the entire building went down.

I glanced at everything and I saw streaks of yellow and red, water in unnatural shapes, arrows; red and green, people held in a telekinetic hold and more signs that the team was saving people. I braced for impact as a huge hunk of rock headed straight towards me.

At the last second I closed my eyes but nothing came. A shadow was cast over my face and I opened my eyes to find Superboy holding the rock. "Thanks." I said breathlessly as he tossed the rock away and helped me up. "I assume not your doing?" Superboy asked gesturing to the burning buildings. "Joker." I said angrily.

Superboy nodded and smiled at me. "It's good to see you again." He said before jumping away to help more people. "Yeah." I said, I could have sworn that Superboy was looking at me differently. Did something happen that I don't know about? "Duck." A voice said and I instinctively dropped to the ground. A red arrow hit a Joker goon that was behind me. "Thanks Roy." I said but not making eye contact." "Hey Vertis. Glad to see you alive." Roy said patting my lightly on me head. In his eyes there was a different look too. Like this was the last time he would see me.

I winced. "Oh sorry about that. Forgot you were in that explosion too." Roy said and jogged away loading his bow. "Oh I'm sure." I said rolling my eyes. "Help! Help me!" A woman yelled from a window. I found Superboy. "Give me a lift?" I asked him rolling my shoulders. "How about you get out of here. We'll handle the rest." He responded. "What?!" I exclaimed. "Never mind." He mumbled. I ignored my injuries, my body full of adrenaline as Superboy launched me up into the window that they woman was yelling from. I broke through the glass and it scraped my sides, I could worry about that later.

"Who-who are you?" The woman asked. "Gone for about two weeks and I am already forgotten." I said rolling my eyes to myself. "I'm here to help." I said to the woman. "No, your the girl on television. The one Superman wants!" She shouted. The fire got closer. Without waiting I grabbed her around he waist and jumped out of the window shielding her body with mine.

I landed on my back on the cement hard. All the breath knocked out of me and the lady got up and ran. Local police and firefighters were there putting out the flames. "Her! It's her!" The woman said pointing to me telling a police officer who I was. "She has a name you know." I sassed as I was painfully yanked to me knees. The police put cuffs on me and put me inside a police car. I made eye contact with Kaldur as the car drove away.

Once we arrived at the police station I was immediately thrown in a cell. "What no interrogation?" I asked. "Superman asked us to wait for him to get here." Commissioner Gordon said locking me inside. "Why am I here?" I asked. "Like you don't know?" The Commissioner said. "No. I don't." I answered leaning back into the wall of the cell.

"Yeah sure." Gordon said and he left posting a guard outside of my cell. I waited patiently on the bed and heard a commotion outside. "No, you may not see her. Aqualad!" A voice called but Kaldur had already entered my room.

"Kaldur!" I said. "Vertis!" Kaldur sighed. "Kaldur why am I here?" I asked. "I can't tell you now we need-." He rushed. "Woah slow down." I said. "Kaldur." Aquaman's voice said from behind Kaldur. He cursed in atlantean and I looked disapprovingly at my brother.

"Kaldur'ahm. Leave this room. You are deep within things you don't understand." Aquaman commanded. "No. You cannot convict my younger sister of murder." Kaldur shot back. "Wait. What's happening?" I asked confused, wrapping my hands around the cell bars. Just then Superman came in. "Vertis'ahm. You are accused with the murder of Batman."
