Toast tapped his foot nervously, trying his best to control his breathing. He didn't want to panic, not right now, in front of the principal.
His parents had been called. They knew he had gotten involved in a fight.
He had just finished explaining to the principal what had happened.
"Well, your story matches up with the one Ghost told. He told me that you weren't involved in the fighting. Was that true?" He questioned. Toast thought back.
"No, I wasn't really.. I don't remember it all honestly, I only wanted him to stop messing with me, so Ghost stood up for me." He answered. The principal nodded.
"Well, from what I've heard you didn't have much to do with this situation. Your parents are on their way to the school now to pick you up, make sure you don't skip class again, Johnny." The principal chided him. Toast nodded quickly, the principal dismissing him to wait in the office for his parents.
Toast stepped outside, seeing Ghost sitting in one of the seats waiting to leave as well. He took a seat next to him, both of them sitting in silence for a few moments.
"I'm sorry again, Johnny." Ghost muttered. Toast shook his head.
"I already told you, you didn't do anything wrong." He paused, thinking a moment. "Did you get in trouble?"
"Week's worth of detention." He shrugged. "Not bad. Let's just hope douchebag over there doesn't try and mess with me anymore." He pointed to the other kid, who sat across from them, looking bored out of his mind.
Jimmy showed up to the office before Toast's parents did. "Looks like I'm leaving now, then." Ghost sighed, throwing his backpack on and looking at Toast with a small smile. "See you at shook tomorrow."
"See you." Toast smiled back, watching him go. It didn't take long after that for his mom to arrive, and she didn't look happy. She didn't say anything for a while, which made Toast even more worried.
It wasn't until they were halfway home that the silence was broken. "That friend you've made is a bad influence of you, Johnny." She shook her head. "You should be friends with better people. Students who don't break the rules, and get into fights."
Toast felt his worry and embarrassment disappear at that statement. All that was left was anger. How could his mother insult Ghost without even meeting him?
"You don't know anything about Ghost!" He raised his voice at her. "He's the only friend I've ever made in school. I have fun hanging out with him! He actually worries about me, and makes sure I'm happy with what we do. I made the choice on my own."
His mom shook her head. "My boy would never break the rules like that, he pressured you into it. You can admit that, Johnny. If he made you do it, you won't be in any trouble."
"He didn't make me do it! I had a lot of fun that day, because it's the only decision I ever made for myself in life." He glared at her, and she went quiet.
"If that's the case, then you are not allowed to leave the house for a month. No hanging out with that boy, he's just trouble." She snapped, and Toast would have said something back if he thought it mattered, but his mom was not changing her mind. He huffed, sitting back in his seat and looking out of the window.
He stayed quiet the rest of the way home, and was quiet even once he'd gotten there. All he could think about was that he was stuck. Stuck with his parents, who expected only the best out of him, and only wanted him to do what made them happy.
For the first time in his life, Toast didn't want to please them. Toast just wanted to do what made him happy.
Writing moody teenagers is just so fun
And I have decided that I am going to write that Gavin x Jimmy book after these two are completed! It sounds like a lot of fun, and a few of you said you'd like to read it.
So yay, more books to look forward too!
I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. Bye!-Bob
