Chapter Five: Flight

Even though I had only been in the castle for a few days now,I had the place mapped out fairly well. Tobias seemed to think that my wing was healed. I'm not sure if he was right,my wing still hurt at times. We walked through the maze of rooms in the castle to find the infirmary. Tobias led me in to the creepy room. The room itself wasn't creepy,it was just the thought of all the blood spilled in this very room. It was dim,the only source of light was from a single candle.

"Hello,Meg." Tobias's voice made me jump. Nerves. "Hello,Tobias." Her heard a female voice say,as a cheetah made her way out of the shadows. She walked over to Tobias, touch her nose with his. When I saw two of them together a pain hit my chest.

I couldn't like Tobias,I meet him only days ago. But I felt something different when I spent time with Tobias earlier today. I suppose that time meant nothing to him,I thought we might have something. Maybe became better friends,if we were even that. I was wrong. He obviously had a girlfriend to worry about. I was nothing but the new girl to him. Even if he didn't have Meg I still couldn't be with him not after what had happened with Tahoe. I loved him and we found out one thing when we were together. Love is a murderer. He loved me and I was forced to watch him die. Never again would I like someone.

"Tris, this is Meg. She's the medic in the castle and she's the same cat who fixed up your wing." Meg smiled and nodded at Tobias's words. As she stood in the light I could see why Tobias would have a liking towards her. She was a thin, tall cheetah. Being a medic she had to be smart and talented.

"So,your Tris. Come here and take a look at you wing." Meg walked under the light,I followed her. It was time to get this bandage off. She circled me and examined my wing, slowly removing my bandage. For once, there was no physical pain. I started to stretch out my wing.

"Wait." Tobias came up to me. "Go outside, you'll have more room." The three of use walked out of the infirmary and out to the Arena. Could I final be able to fly again? Did I even remember how to? Well,I would soon find out.

I stretched my wings out for the first real time in years. It felt good, the feeling of my wind in wings. Seeing the sunlight hit the white and black feathers. I lifted my wings up and down, getting the feeling back into them. I did something I don't even remember doing. I ran. I ran out of the Arena. Running to the cliff that over hung the ocean. I wasn't trying to escape this time. But I still jumped, this time was different. I didn't fall,I flew.

Flying high into the air,I watched the water under me,seeing my reflection. It couldn't have been me. But the reflection did belong to me. A young white tiger with 20 foot wings and the fur that hung in her face was moved by the wind. That was me.
