Chapter Eleven: Bringer of Bad News

I flew higher and higher into the tangerine sky. The sun was slowly setting and darkness would soon smother the world. The fires of the castle torches flicked casting shadows that danced on the dark green foliage. My paws touched the cold earth. As soon as they touched, I was running. I was nearly out of breath when I found the king. He was sitting in his throne room staring out of the partly stained glass window. The blue hue of the glass didn't obstruct the view of the aqua green sea below. I barely made any noise as I busted into the room. The king's old ears only flicked at the noise. Huffing and gasping for air, I said through broken breaths, "I'm sorry to disturb you at this time of evening," bowing only slightly, "but I believe that here is a new threat upon the kingdom." He stared back at me only for a moment. He then shook his head, glaring at his oversized paws. "I knew this day would be nearing." His guff voice sounded as if it hadn't be used and years and was broken from age. "Meg was always loyal but I knew she was hiding something ever since she was young." He turned away from me and back to the sea. "I'm going to need you, kit. No cat has ever had the same abilities as you. Please, go gather the rest of the kits and bring them back here. I must retrieve my battle armor." And with that he made his way of the fire lit room and into the hall. A roar erupted, shaking the was. I though over what he told me. I needed to find the others. I broke out of the room and down the halls, my paws making thunderous beating on the chiseled stone. I let out a small raspy roar of my own. It didn't sound as mighty and powerful as the king's, but it was something. This meant war.
