Chapter Six: Mother?

I lay in thinking over my stay here in the castle. Thinking over my thoughts of Tobias. It was foolish of me to think that I like him. He was my instructor for paw-to-paw combat. Besides he had Meg. I would catch glimpses of the two together on the beach or walking through the castle. It was wrong of me for even liking him,I would never tell him. Everything would be wrong then. Even if he was the first cat I've liked since Tahoe. "Tris, what is wrong with you?" I buried my face in my wings. I sat with my face covered until I drifted off to sleep.

-----------------------------------

"Tris,I've come for you. You won't be lonely anymore. We will be together again after all these years apart."

I heard the voice.

"Mother?" I looked up. I didn't see her,I was alone in limbo. I was alone in black nothingness. "Mother?" I called again.

"Tris." She placed her paw on my back. I turned around to not see my mother, but a beast. Her body was starting to transform from the familiar face into a monster. Blood dripped from where her eyes use to be. Fur disappeared, showing bone. Her claw extended, turning into razor like knifes.

"No,you're not my mother!" I started to back away from her. She looked at me and laughed. I ran,but it seemed like it was too late. She grabbed my tail pulling me closer. I would soon be dead,by the paws of my own mother. I let a blood-curtailing scream. She grabbed ahold of my shoulders and shook me. Before anything else happened,I woke up. The blackness disappeared along with my mother or whoever that thing was. Standing I front of me was Tobias, holding my shoulders and shaking me.

"Where is she?" I yelped at him.

"Tris, you had a bad dream. There's no one in here but you and me." He said in a concerned voice. Tobias seemed worried about me. I had to be still dreaming. He never seemed to care about anyone but himself or his family.

I climbed out of my bed and over to the window. The waves crashed gently up against the shore. Tobias placed his paw up on the banister next to mine. We were both quiet. Time seemed to stop, everything was quiet and calm. No one was chasing me. The thought was foolish, but I was free. I felt free whenever I was with Tobias.

I looked up to Tobias, whose green eyes shined in the moonlight. "So,Tobias,"

He leaned in and kissed my cheek.

"Tobias. What was that for?"

He looked away,he was smirking. "I don't know. You needed it. Don't ask me why. You just did." He when back to staring at the ocean.

"What's your girlfriend going to say when she fines out?" I said, coldly to him.

"Girlfriend? What girlfriend? I don't have one."

"Meg."

"She's not my girlfriend."

"Fine! Then, please do explain the nose rubbing, giggling, flirting, and all the walking in the beach, and

whatever romancy things I've caught you doing!"

"Tris, control your jealousy. Meg and I are only friends. Besides,I prefer you."

We stood staring into the moonlit sea. Everything was quiet, except the crashing white waves. Tobias touched my paw.

"Tris,I want to tell you something...it can't be here. Meet me down at the beach." He said. Like that he was out the room.

I flew out of the window like I always do and Tobias was already sitting in the white sand.

"I sense that you have heard of me."

The thought rushed into my mind. "You're the Elemental Summoner." The words hardly leave my mouth.

He nods and walks over a a mound of sand. He digs up a small wooden chest and places the necklace he wears around his neck into the chest. "You realize you are the only one I've ever shown it to before, right?" I nod, without making eye connection. He steps into the water,it doesn't separate,he stands on top of it.

Tobias continues to walk on the water. He turned and picked up water,it formed a orb in his paw. With a short blow it flew towards me transforming into snow before it hit me.
