I swirled my pen in my hand absentmindedly.

This day just doesn't seem to end.

As I sat there bored out of my mind, Alex sat down hastily on the car across from me and took a deep breath.

"Yordanny, I am so so so so so -- you just don't know how sorry I am. Zarrah and I were catching up and all of the sudden the time just flew a-a. How did you get home last night? I am the world's worst date. I left my date and spoke to my best friend for hours on end. Ple--"

I held my hand up and tried to stop my laughter from bubbling over. "It's okay Alex."

"You're not mad?"

I shook my head.

"But you have to be! I left you stranded at a church that I took you on a date too! Your don't have to lie. I apologize. I am sorry. You can say that you are mad!"

"But I'm not! And you really shouldn't beg a woman to be mad at you. Are you on a suicide mission or something?" I laughed.

He stared at me for awhile. "You really are not mad?"

"Nope! Besides, it would have been rude of my interrupt you and your crush."

At that, he dropped his eye to the floor and scratched the back of his neck. "C- what are you talking about?"

"Zarrah and Alex, sitting in the tree...K - I - S - S - "

He waved his hand like a lunatic, hushing me. "Stop it!"

"It's ok Alex. A guy named Daniel took me home. Nice guy." I sighed dreamily.

Alex leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. "Tall, caucasian, blue eyes?"

I hummed.

"That's the pastor's son you know."

I kid you not, I choked on my own spit.

"What?!?"

He nodded. "Single too.

I shrugged indifferently. "And why are you telling me this?"

"Just putting  it out there." He said, raising his hands in surrender.

I swiftly changed the subject. "So, you and Zarrah...."

"Don't start. I know I'm 10 years older than her and stuff but I really like her. But she's not of age, she has boys chasing after her. It's so freaking hopeless."

I patted his hand. "Just keep treating her the way you do and do it when you think that the time is right."

He nodded. "We cool?"

I placed my hand on my chin pretending to think. "I mean, you could buy me lunch. You did leave me stranded at a church with a guy I didn't know."

He just laughed and shook his head. "And if I pay for your lunch, will we be cool after?"

"You got it!"
