(Chapter 3) Dinner
Finn gently nocked on the door.
"May I come in? "Asked Finn.
"Don't know if you deserve to eat." May said with a sneer.
"Now May there's no need to be rude."
Said John, "Yes please come in Finn."
"What would you like to eat? We have corn, chicken, milk, and biscuits. Which I'm proud to say is all home grown." Beamed John.
"Well I guess I'll have one of everything." Said Finn happily.
"Daddy you're going to make him work right? How else is he going to pay for the food and bed?" Questioned May.
"Now May he is injured we will let him stay till he's healed at the very least." Replied John.
"Ugh, Fine. ill get the forks and stuff." Said May.
(May leaves the room to fetch eating utensils)
"That was a pretty serious knife wound you had there Finn, you could have bleed to death if I hadn't found you, your very lucky I was out in the woods hunting. How did you get such a cut Finn?" Asked John.
With great reluctance Finn Spoke. "Well before you found me I was part of a caravan, they were my family and friends, then as we were traveling along the road we were ambushed by bandits, everyone was killed."
"Oh my, I'm sorry Finn, I'm so very sorry, in recent time this kingdom has been falling into ruin. There has been a huge spree of crime, a massive bandit group has been raiding the town and attacking the castle for quite some time now, many people have died, others have been forced into slavery, more people leave our once prosperous town every day, and now there's not even enough guard left to fight back, soon I plan to take May away from here, it's simply not safe anymore." said John.
"Thank you John... How did you know how to dress my wound." Asked Finn.
"Well I guess it was something I picked up in the war I was in when I was younger, but enough about that let's get on with dinner."
(May walks back in the room and places forks and knives around the table)
"Ah May, thank you. May would you lead us in prayer?" asked John.
"Okay daddy." Said May.
"Dear god, thank you for our food we have this day, thank you for the roof over our heads, thank you that father I are in good health, and we hope you heal this freeloader soon so he can leave. Amen, let's eat! "
Finn wasn't very religious but Mays words were quite comforting, and made him feel welcome...Kind of...
(Half an hour later)
"How did you like dinner Finn?" Asked John.
"Oh, I really enjoyed it, it was all so fresh, truly delicious." Cheered Finn.
"Well thank you Finn, that's means a lot to me, you might not believe me but I rarely get thanks for our food, even though we provide food for most of the town and castle, people don't seem to know where it all comes from. Well enough rambling let me show you where you will be staying, we have one room that we aren't using, follow me." Said John.
Finn followed John up some stairs to the second story of his house, there was 3 rooms that He could see from the hallway one at the end and two right across from each other, John led him to one of the room's right across from each other, the room on the left....
