(Chapter 14) The First Breach
Finn walks inside half expecting to bombarded with enemies but instead it was quiet for the most part the hall was wide but dark, a few bottles lay scattered throughout the hall emptied of the mead they once held, the torch light flickers as the wind from outside enters the hall.
“Quick, come inside, we need to get moving. Cut down any and every bandit you see. Don’t hesitate.”
Finn, Scout, and Isaac continue down the hall, the hall is made completely out of stone, it had few decorations beside the occasional tapestry draped across the wall or on the floor.
As Finn continued down the hall he could hear loud cheers and laughter getting louder, Finn motioned for Isaac to join him in the front.
“You ready boss?” Asked Isaac.
“Yeah, we are coming up on a group, you’ll lead with me and Scout will watch our backs.”
Finn tells Scout the plan as they approach the corner. Finn carefully looks around the corner.
“Okay, there is three of them, one for each of us. I don’t think they’ll realize we are a threat if we walk in with our weapons sheathed, they look pretty drunk, I’m thinking we’ll walk in and position ourselves behind each of them and take them down quickly. They won’t even know what hit them.” Said Finn.
At that moment a trio of laughs could be heard from around the corner.
“Hey Aron! Do you think you’ll Puke again!? Hahahaha! Loudly asked one of the bandits.
“Screw you! You don’t know *hick* what you’re talking about! I can hold it together just *hick* fine!” Replied Aron.
Finn motioned for Isaac and Scout to follow him. Finn took a deep breath and walked out from their corner, walking into the room with Isaac and Scout following closely behind.
The three bandits continued laughing and telling jokes while passing a bottle of dark fluid around and sharing drinks from it. One of the bandits laughed so hard he fell from his chair.
“Hahaha! He fell out of his chair! Hahaha! Ah, so what happened next? “Asked one of the bandits
“Well, I told the Inn Keeper, I’m not drunk enough to sleep with your ugly wife yet so you don’t need to worry! Hahaha!” Yelled one of the bandits.
The other two exploded with laughter.
“So what did he say after?” Asked one of the bandits.
“Not much, soon after he tried to fight me and so I killed him! Hahaha! And then…. I slept with his wife! Bwahaha.” Replied the bandit.
There was another explosion of laughter between the three men.
Finn, Isaac, and Scout exchanged looks of disgust as they got into position.
The drunken bandits continued with their stories and laughter, paying little attention to our heroes as they walk behind their chosen bandit. Suddenly Finn whispered.
“Now.”
Finn, Isaac, and Scout all grabbed their bandit and jerked their heads back and quickly slit their throats. They let the lifeless bodies fall to the ground.
“That was good, let’s keep going, we need to kill them all….”
They pile the bandits into a corner, and put a blanket over them the try and avoid being discovered.
(Authors note, we are going to be following Prince Eric for a while)
~Eric POV~
Eric and William and their men slowly climb inside the fort through a hole in the rubble that they cleared, they had to destroy the door its self to clear away the rubble on the other side.
As soon as they walk they notice an extremely powerful smell inhabits the hall a few people began to puke, there are no lit torches in the hall, but light can be seen much farther down the hall, William grabs one of the un lit torches from the wall and drew out a spark stone and quickly lit the torch, light floods the hall.
“Oh my Lord… these men are monsters.” Said Eric.
Bodies littered the floor. Bones and flesh thrown all over the room, maggots making their homes in the skulls of the poor people that have been left here, the smell and sight were so intense people’s eyes watered, more people began to puke as they realized what the smell was.
“You can barely see the floor! This bandits are far worse than we thought, this is revolting on so many levels… We must stop them here, tonight!” Yelled Eric.
“Then we need to continue, let’s go everyone. I know it’s horrible, I Know it’s disgusting but we must press on. Just power through it everyone.” Said William.
All the men begrudgingly pushed on.
As they walked further into the hall the smell got stronger and stronger, with each footstep the distinct sound of aging blood being pulled from the floor clinging to their boots as they continued further inside the fortress.
“My God! I’ve never seen such disrespect for the dead.” Said William.
As the men walked further down the hall they began to hear light talking, screams and moans.
“Everyone be quiet, stop gaging for a while I can’t hear.” Said Eric.
(Distant whispers)
“Where does the king keep his jewels!? Tell Me!!” said an Angered Bandit.
“Piss off….” Replied a quiet woman.
“You Whore! I’ll kill you!” Said the Bandit.
(The sound of punching distantly echoes through the hall)
“Oh God! This is Horrible! Let’s go, we have to find them.” Loudly Whispered Eric.
Everyone began to run down the hallway, splashing ageing blood as they rushed, the sounds of bones cracking under their feet sent shivers through the men’s bodies. Some men began whispering prayers and apologies to the dead.
The bodies quickly thinned as the got closer to the light at the end of the hall, a door became visible as they came closer.
Eric arrived at the door first, instantly smashing through, William followed behind soon after.
Inside the room there was an overweight man on top of a woman, he was holding her down while he beat her. The man turned to see Eric charging at him, Eric slammed into the man knocking him off the woman and into a wall. Eric drew his sword and lunged at the Bandit, the bandit attempted to draw his sword but wasn’t fast enough and was slain by Eric blade.
Eric rushed to the woman to check if she was okay, blood covered her face, bruises riddled her body and cuts danced across her in all places, the rags draped across her could barely be called clothes, they were torn everywhere and covered in filth.
“Miss! Miss are you okay!?” Asked Eric.
Drowsily the woman replied. “Eric?... Is that you?”
“Yes. I am prince Eric. Who are- oh my god… Bell…”
The woman passes out.
