Chapter 13 Silent Assault

(Chapter 13) Silent Assault

Everyone got into their proper positions around the fort under the cover of darkness, well hidden in the trees, there were five bandits guarding both of the un-barricaded entrances and one bandit circling the whole fort, both entrances are out of site of the other so besides the single guard patrolling no one would notice if the guards diapered.

“Okay everyone here we go, after that guard walks by we will send in a storm of arrows to take them out silently, on my signal fire, after the arrows land Isaac and Scout will run out and finish any survivors, we have to kill both groups of bandits before the patrol bandit walks back around, ready? Here we go, on my signal” Stated Finn.

“Wait….”

“Wait….”

“Wait….”

“Fire!...” Finn whispered loudly.

Moments after the patrol guard went around the corner, a dozen arrows flew from darkness of the forest surrounding fort finding their way into the five guards of the east entrance pinning several bandits to the wall behind them and just as planned Isaac and Scout run from their hiding spot and add an extra slash to each bandit to ensure they stayed down.

“Okay good! Let’s go to the next spot, hurry!” Finn whispered quickly.

The team hurried around to the other side of the fort going the opposite way the patrol guard went. They soon arrived ready for the next take down. They once again waited till the patrol man walked away till they attacked, once again Finn gave the order to attack and Isaac and scout rushed out to make sure they killed all of them.

“Great, now let’s get the jump on the patrolman before he find the bodies. Hurry!” Exclaimed Finn.

Everyone rushed along with Finn leading them, it was only moments before they were on the guard. He turned to see a large group of soldiers charging at him only a few feet away, he barely had time to open his mouth before Finn plunged his blade through his chest, silencing the bandit.

This was Finn’s first kill, he had trained to do this for months now but he just now killed someone for the first time. He never thought of how it would feel, how it would feel to end someone’s life, to watch the light leave someone’s eyes, but he knew it had to be done, he shrugged off the nasty feeling he had and gave out orders to his troops.

“Alright good work everyone. We’ve taken down eleven of their soldiers without a single casualty or injury, let’s hope the rest of them will be so easy. Prince Eric, you and your men need to begin clearing the rubble from the north entrance, William your team shall assist him. We need that rubble cleared away quickly so we can all go in together. John and Paul, your team will watch the east entrance for anyone coming out to check on their guards, Isaac, Scout and myself will do the same at the west entrance, once the rubble is cleared Williams men and Eric’s men will go in together and find the prisoners, okay, now go get to it.” Finn explained.

Everyone rushed to carry out Finn’s orders as soon as he finished, except Paul. He stayed behind for a moment and pulled Finn off to the side.

“Finn, I just wanted to let you know you’re doing an amazing job leading everyone, you’re keeping everyone well organized and being supportive. Not to mention how well you handled your first kill I’m glad I can say I’m the one who trained you.” Paul said with a look of pride in his eyes.

“Thank you Paul, now let’s win this.” Said Finn.

Paul runs off the join John in watching their side of the fort, Finn did the same and waited.

The rubble was clearing quickly with the two teams working together, no one had come to check on the bandits stationed at the doors yet, but both teams were prepared in case they did, two people were always waiting from a distance with a bow and several arrows. As time passed on one of the castle soldiers ran to Finn and told him all the rubble had been cleared and they had gotten through the door completely, they’ve cleared enough rubble from the inside to easily walk through and are awaiting

Finn’s order to go in.

“Very good, run back to Eric and tell him to go in. I will tell Paul and his team.” Said Finn.

And with that the soldier ran off eager to carry out his newly given orders.

Finn rushed to tell Paul and John they were proceeding inside the stronghold now and they were to do the same.

“So, the time has come…. Well I’m ready when you are Kid.” Said Paul.

“Then it’s time to go, go inside when you and your team is ready, good luck guys” Said Finn.

Finn ran back to his side of the fort and approached the door, he signaled for Isaac and Scout to come to his side.

“Are you two ready?” Asked Finn.

“Yes.” They replied together.

“Let’s go.” Said Finn.

Finn reached out to give the handle a tug….it opened slightly, Finn gave another light pull trying to be quiet. Suddenly the door burst open knocking Finn and Scout to the ground!

“Hey guys! Aron just puked all over! It was hilarious! *hick* that kid can’t handle his drink at all! *hick* Bwahahaha!! *hick* Whoa, what the hell!? Who are you!?” questioned the random bandit drawing his sword quickly.

Finn knocked the man down by kicking out his legs, he quickly jumped up and drew his own blade and slit the downed Bandit’s throat.

“That was very close…. This guy reeks of mead, there is a chance the bandits have gotten themselves drunk, this could really turn the tides in our favor. Let’s keep going.” Said Finn.

Finn once again pulls the door open and quickly walks inside.
