Chapter 4: Tessellate

"Come on, just end her already." The men reached for a weapon of their choice. "Go ahead, what are you waiting for? I'm ready to leave." He bent down in front of me and moved the knife back and fourth in front of my face. "We warned you about Ellie...and you didn't listen..." Screams escaped my lips, and the sharp blade made contact.

[Peyton's P.O.V]

"Peyton! Wake up!"

Ellie was by my side shaking me as hard as she could. I nearly pissed myself when I jumped awake. I looked up at her eyes, which had a very concerned expression. She held me in her warm arms.

"Are you okay baby?"

"Yea, just another bad dream."

I rubbed my head and moved out of her lap. She sat against the headboard and checked her phone.

"What time is it?"

"2:30"

I raised my eyebrows in shock. The blankets were still warm from the long snogging war a little while back. My legs swung over the side of the bed and I went to the bathroom. Ellie continued looking through her phone. When I came back out, I went to her side of the bed and sat on her legs. She smiled and put her phone down so she could put her arms around my waist. We touched our foreheads together and looked each other in the eyes. Ellie began placing kisses all over again. This time, it wasn't as rough. I stopped it after she got a few in.

"Ellie can I ask you a question?"

She let me rest my head on her.

"Of course you can."

"How did you know the men had me the first time they captured me?"

She fell silent. I nudged her a little to remind her I'm still here.

"Well.."

Her hands went under my knees and she positioned me so I was sitting in between her legs instead of on them. I crossed my legs and rested my face in my hands, with my elbows resting on my knees. Her hands lingered around my knees and back.

"They did the same to me a few years back.."

"What?!"

"Yea...I guess they didn't like the fact that my music was becoming known and so was I.. they started off with following me everywhere I went. Soon it turned into the stage where they knew my everyday locations. Where I went to eat lunch, my recording studio, where I went on runs, they were like little ducklings and I was the mum. At the time I didn't have a huge security group so people were able to easily confront me. So they did. I guess you can figure out what happened from there."

"Ellie..."

I held her hands in mine. Her eyes were looking down. From what I could see, they were becoming stocked with tears. I lifted her chin to look at me.

"We can get through this together, Ellie. You've already gotten rid of some of them. There can't be much more."

A tear streamed down her cheek. I moved closer to her and wiped it away.

"Listen to me. What did I just tell you?"

She stayed silent.

"Hmm?"

Her innocent eyes met mine.

"That we will get through this together..."

"Cos we will."

She let go of my hands and put them up to her face and more tears streamed down. Her breaths were short but heavy. I put my hands on her shoulders.
