2 days later
[Ellie's P.O.V]
Bright white lights shone down on my face as I lay on my back on the most uncomfortable thing ever. I don't even think it was a bed, or at least it didn't feel like one. I turned my head to the side and everything flashed back in my mind as I looked at Peyton laying there, looking lifeless. We were both laying on metal tables with white gowns on us.
I turned my head back with eyes already tearing up. Looking at her wasn't helping that. With hesitance, I forced my head to turn and look at her to see if she was even breathing. My eyes focused on her stomach for several seconds before I let out a sigh of relief at the sight of her gown moving up and down. Her face was almost blue looking though.
I looked to my other side to see a window with a few people looking in at us. Doctors. They had their masks and gloves on. One of them jumped up and pointed at me when they seen my eyes fully open. All four of them came rushing in and stood around me. I could hear them mumbling, but not well. The only woman doctor came closer to me and put her hand on my shoulder.
"Darling, can you nod if you hear us?"
After comprehending what she said, I gave my best nod. A sharp pain accompanied it. She nodded back and looked up to another person, standing on the other side of me. I grunted as I tried to sit up and all of them came to my upper body to push me right back down.
"Oh no you don't. Your spine took a good hitting when your car flipped, Miss. We don't want you to risk hurting it even more."
I tried saying something, but nothing could come out. They all looked to each other and gave silent nods. In a single file line, they began going towards the door. I had to get something out. I tried once more, and then again, until finally words came out.
"Wait!"
The woman who was by my shoulder came back again. I took a hard swallow before trying to talk again.
"How's she doing?"
I turned my head over to Peyton so she could know who I'm talking about. She looked back at her before looking back down to me with sorry eyes.
"I'm afraid she's not doing too well. When we found her she was loosing blood so fast. We've never seen anyone survive that level of blood loss."
My eyes teared up and I realized that's why her body is so blue. She's hanging on for dear life.
"Will she be up soon? Can-can I talk to her?"
Her hand found her way to my cheek.
"Honey, you can barely move yourself. I'm sorry but I don't think either of you will be in the condition to talk to one another just yet."
"You didn't answer my question, will she wake up soon?"
"There's no way in telling. She could be in a coma, but at the moment we can't tell. But as soon as we do know, I'll inform you. For now, I'm going to get you in a separate room so they can do observations on you separately."
Before I could make a come back, she stepped to the side to join the other doctors who were leaving the room. I looked back to Peyton who still hasn't even budged. With tears already releasing themselves from my eyes, I called out her name with my raspy voice.
"Peyton!"
Nothing.
"Peyton baby please wake up."
