Soulmates are Stupid: chapter 18

Dan woke up the next day to the birds chirping and sun coming through the open window. He got up, a smile plastered on his face. In the world of the Sims, let's just say Dan was in the 'happy' mood instead of being 'fine'.

"What's making you so happy?" Felix asked after Dan said 'good morning' to him.

"No reason," Dan giggled like Zoe did when Alfie asked her out in high school. No, they didn't go to the same school, but Dan and Zoe are friends, and he saw the video recorded by her brother, Joe. Most people who went to the college Dan was at went to high school in the Northern parts of England.

"Oh my God, spill. Give me the juicy details!"

Dan rolled his eyes. "It's none of your damn business!"

"Why not?!" Felix cried like a 6-year-old.

"Because this my life, not yours!"

Felix smirked. "It's about your soulmate, isn't it?"

Dan pressed his lips into a line. "Yeah."

"Spill!" Felix sat on his bed.

"Um, he kissed me?" Dan said, but it came out as more of a question to be honest.

"Guds heliga moder." (sorry if that's wrong; Swedish isn't my first language and this is google translate) Felix whispered.

"What?"

Felix looked up at Dan. "Holy Mother of God."

"Why is that?"

"He kissed you!"

"Um, fill me in?"

"He actually likes you!"

"Really. Can't go five minutes without making fun of me."

"Sorry, Daniel."

Dan rolled his eyes. "I swear, Felix, you're this close"--he used his thumb and forefinger to show him the amount of patience he has left--"from being on my hate list."

"I love you too!"

Dan rolled his eyes, for probably about the twentieth time, and got his coffee and and a crumpet.

"Bye, Felix!" Dan called, shutting the door so that it didn't slam shut. He didn't want something negative to ruin his day so far. That negative thing being the door slamming shut.

He ran down the hallway and down the stairs. Maybe he'd get to see one of his friends on the way to breakfast. Maybe. And by friend, Dan meant, well, his soulmate. Were they dating yet? Phil did kiss Dan so what did that even mean? This relationship shit was still too new.

At least that day was sunny and it was 10 degrees (Celsius for you american peeps [aka me] it's fifty degrees Fahrenheit). At least that's what that day would give to put gasoline in Dan's fire of happiness.

He saw some other students run in t-shirts and shorts on campus. Dan kind of envied the people who could come out of hibernation during February.

He got to the Dining Hall and saw his circle of friends--including Phil--sitting at their usual table.

Thank God, Dan thought.

Why are you thanking God? Phil responded.

Dan's eyes widened. Never mind.

Truth was, the only chair open at the table was right next to Phil.

His phone vibrated in his pocket.
