The Goddess Rises

Chapter 3

Alex's POV:

Today was the day that I was leaving the most miserable place on earth, boarding school. Today was also the day that I would find my mate. As I entered the pack house I smelled blood. I followed the smell to the kitchen and found mother cleaning up a pool of blood. I frantically went to help her. She didn't have any cuts or bruises on her so I relaxed but only a little.

"Mom what happened in here?" I asked.

"It's-" she started.

"Don't lie to me."

"Fine one of the pack members was attacked."

"By who?"

"Talk to Blade, he knows what happened, but do not under any circumstances believe a word that comes out of his mouth."

"I won't mom, now is he at school?"

"Yeah everyone is. Oh and welcome home darling." She kissed me on the cheek.

"Thanks mom."

I left to go and talk to Blade at school. At school Miranda, the pack slut, kissed me. I quickly pushed her away and walked to find Blade. Every girl was looking at me with lust. All except one. She had her back turned to me. I smelt the most mouthwatering aroma. Cherries and Vanilla. I saw Blade lean up and take something out of her hands. She spun around and I saw her face. Lia.

My wolf, Raoul, kept yelling one word, Mate. I was so excited that Lia was my mate. Ever since we were little I had a bit of a crush on her.

A growl broke me out of my thoughts.

"You don't talk back to your future beta," Blade growled.

I walked over to them. She looked at me then looked away. I felt hurt. My mate didn't want me. I quickly covered it up.

Dude you are home. I wasn't expecting you until tonight. Blade said via mind-link.

Yeah I got upgraded to an earlier flight. Is there a problem here? I asked him.

No problem here someone just needs to teach this mut a lesson about disrespecting a future beta.

I thought we had a deal. You leave her alone and I make you Beta.

This mut doesn't know how to keep her trap shut so I figured that this would be the exception.

Blade then quickly looked at Lia. She had taken back the paper that Blade had stolen. He looked about ready to murder her. Then she ran. It was pointless to run after her since she has always been the fastest person in the pack. Her lean figure helped but she looked skinnier that the last time that I saw her. Blade took after her but I was able to stop him. Then I went after her. Blade tried to contact me but I refused to let him in. I almost was able to grab her when she darted out of my reach.

I saw that she was heading for the forest. I ran outside to get my motorbike. I got on and followed her. About halfway to the pack house I caught up with her. I got off my bike and wrapped my arms around her.

"Calm down it's me," I said. I felt the sparks my parents always told me about.

"What are you doing? Shouldn't you be back at school congratulating Blade on his Beta position. Lord knows he doesn't deserve it," She said bitterly.

"What do you mean?"

She pulled up her shirt and I saw the bruises and scars. I froze. This is what happened while I was gone.

"He has been doing this to me and Leo for the past three years."

I brought my hand and gently touched her stomach. She gasped.
