The Goddess Rises

Chapter 9

Alex's POV

Four excruciating hours later the pack doctor came out of surgery.

"How is she?" I asked standing up out of the plastic waiting chairs.

"She is stable. We don't know what happened or how it happened but we were able to stop the bleeding and she should be fine if she doesn't move excessively. " the doc said.

Leo came in the room with one of my guards, "Where is my sister?"

"She is stable."

"What happened?"

"I woke up and she was puking blood. I ran her straight here and they just finished the surgery."

"Alpha she is asking for you," a nurse said walking us to her room.

Lia had wires and tube coming out of her. They were hooked up to a heart monitor and an oxygen tank. She was pale and she looked like she was exhausted but she had to tell us something.

"Leo, mom talked to me. This time it was her and she told me that this is Perseus. This is a warning and our last chance to stop this. But do not fear she gave me something that will help us defeat Perseus. Promise me that you will not stop and you will fight. He will come sometime soon when we are our weakest. You must fight," She whispered in a raspy voice. "Alex promise me that you will not sit with me while our people fight. Please fight with them and then come home safely to me. I will be perfectly safe here."

"I will not leave you not again. I failed you once I will not fail again."

"Then fight, survive, then come back to me."

"Alright, I promise," I whispered.

"Who is this?" She asked gesturing to the guard standing next to Leo.

"Hello Luna, my name is Reid and I am your brother's mate."

"I was wondering how long my brother was going to make me wait to meet the man who was making him so happy. Welcome to our dysfunctional family."

"Thank you, Luna."

"Just Lia."

"Of course Lia."

"Lia you need to sleep," I said as her eyes started to close then open rapidly.

"But I'm not tired."

"Yes, you are. Go to sleep."

She mumbled some incoherent words then her eyes closed. I asked Reid if he would stay with Lia and he agreed. Leo nodded his head at my idea. The two of them kissed and I lightly kissed Lia's head before Leo and I left to tell the pack what is going on.

3rd Person POV

Alex told his pack that their Luna was the daughter of the moon goddess and that she needed help. Most of them were quiet and the rest were whispering about the upcoming battle. Once Alex and Leo finished explaining their lengthy explanation of what was happening Alex called his generals and best warrior to help with a battle strategy. They made a plan based on Lia's intel and Leo's knowledge of how Perseus fights and his demons. The women and children would hide in the catacombs that run beneath the community. All entrance points at and around the city would be sealed shut, locked from the inside. The men and warriors would fight and protect Lia. Leo and Alex would be front and center leading their packs into the battle. Alex knew that he might break his promise to Lia about coming home safe.

Lia knew this too so she devised a plan of her own. While everyone was distracted by the battle she would sneak out and join her pack armed with what her mother gave her, the only weapon known to defeat Perseus. She would not let her pack, her people, fight for her when she had the weapon to destroy her enemy.
