Chapter-2

Skylar's POV<

He leaned down as I went to my tiptoes. "We can't.....kiss." Kaiden says sadly.

"Why not? Am I not good enough?" I ask. Kaiden quickly shakes his head.

"No, you're more than good enough. Your amazing, perfect, and beautiful and with the 8 hours and 30 minutes that I've gotten to know you, I've liked you more and more but I don't want to kiss you because you are too precious to me. Don't think that I don't have feelings for you because I do. I'm just afraid I'll hurt you. Like I know you thought, I am a player. Can we just stay friends and not kiss so I won't do what I do best?" He asks me as his voice goes into a shaky whisper. I look at him as a tear falls down his cheek. I lift up his chin and put my hands on his face, wiping the tears away. My hands move to his head and I pull him into a tight hug.

"I don't want to ruin our friendship either," I whisper into his ear. "You are too sweet." I say to him as I pull away and playfully punch him in the arm. "Why are you such a jerk then?' I say loud enough for everyone to hear. Kaiden realized what was happening and decided to play along. "Because I love to annoy you." Kaiden says back, both of us trying to hold our laughter. Kaiden looks to me. "You are the only one who I think I can show my true self to. I'm not as cruel and cold hearted as I seem to be." Kaiden whispers. I smile. "I'm glad I get to see the real you. Now we can be the best of friends." I say. Kaiden smiles. "Why of course! And just to make it fun, let's act like we still hate each other and trick the others."  I smile again. "You just read my mind, North." We both walk out of the kitchen and into the living room where everyone else was.

"What took you guys so long?" Ari asks, waggling her eyebrows.

"Mr. 'I'm So Tough' went and knocked down plates. I had to help this jerk." I say as everyone but Kaiden laughs.

"That is not true! They slipped!" He yells back at me.

"When you touched them?" I ask as everyone laughs again. Kaiden crosses his arms.

Kaiden's POV

It was so much fun acting with Sky. She was an amazing actress. I'm so glad I have someone who I can show my true self to without them judging me. As soon as everyone looks to the T.V., Sky and I started making silly faces at each other. I went cross eyed when she stuck her tongue out at me. I laughed at her. Everyone looked at me weird. I blush and look down. "What? The commercial was funny?" My statement turned into a question. Even though I've only known Sky for not even a day, it seemed like I've known her for ages.  There was a knock on the door. Skylar and I both ran to the door. It was both of our Mom's. I almost forgot, we were all having dinner here. We both let them in, smiling like crazy.

"You must be Sky." Mom says to Skylar. Sky nods and shakes her hand. I already knew her Mom so we didn't need to be introduced.

"So, Sky is it O.K. if you spend the night here? I know you just met them but-"

All of us including Ari, Taylor, Nath, Mason and Michael all said, "That's fine!"  excitedly. Both Moms smiled. "I'm glad you made friends Skylar." Sky's mom said.

Mom leaned in. "I know you like her. I approve." She whispers into my ear before pulling away. I blush.  During dinner I sat beside Sky when Ari sat on the other side of her with everyone else around. All the people who I cared about were around me. They were all my best friends, my family.  We ate and talked. Sky and I stole looks and funny faces. After that Mom went to bed, Sky's mom left, and Ari, Mason, Mikey, Nath, and Taylor all went to sleep also. It was just Sky and I.

"So Sky, what do you want to do?" I ask.

Skylar shrugs. "Watch movie?" I nod in agreement. I purposely put a horror movie on just so she could jump and hide in my chest. I know, we friend zoned each other but can't a guy have a little fun? After that, we were both tired. Skylar went and checked all the rooms. All full except mine. "They did this on purpose." Skylar says. I smile. "You can sleep with me, I don't mind." Skylar nods and she follows me to my room.

I take off my shirt. She blushes. "Here" I say as I hand it to her. "Thanks." Skylar says as she goes into the bathroom and changes. She comes out wearing my T-shirt.

She crawls into my bed and I get beside her. We face different directions. When I thought she was asleep, I turned towards her and wrapped my arms around her waist and put my face into her hair, closing my eyes.

Skylar's POV

As I turned around and stared at the wall, I felt arms go around my waist, causing sparks to shoot through everywhere. I also felt butterflies, the good kind. I tried ignoring it but I couldn't. I closed my eyes and right before I went to sleep, I realized that I liked someone I couldn't have.
